Question of the Week 4-19 - 4-23EMCAD80 04-20-2004, 11:48 AM What's the "Happening Hot Spot" where you live? EMCAD80 04-20-2004, 11:51 AM Seeing that I live in a big city...there are tons of places. One of the big ones is downtown San Diego. It's called the Gaslamp Quarters....such a fun place. :) So many clubs and restaurants to choose from. Good times. Hillcrest (for the gay community) is also a fun place to go. The shopping is great!! And a place that happens to a hot spot for me and my friends is Thursday Nights at DAVE AND BUSTERS! I don't know how make it into work on Fridays :D BellaLove 04-20-2004, 08:16 PM In Santa Barbara, the happening spots during the day are at any of our beaches. At night, everyone heads to State Street...thats where you'll find all the clubs, bars, SHOPPING and fooooooood!! :-) EMCAD80 04-21-2004, 11:07 AM I'm soooo going to Santa Barbara this summer....we got to hook up!!! PinkPanther_04 04-21-2004, 09:07 PM Well, I kind of live in two places right now. Well, for the next three weeks anyways. :D At school, which is a large college town (150K people, a third of whom are students) the big place to go is Northgate, which borders campus on - guess what - the North side. Most of the bars over there have country or Southern rock bands playing on weekends. There are other country bars in town, but that's the main area. It's kind of lame, because all there is to do is drink, and the people who are old enough to drink just want to get as drunk as they can. It's pretty much the same scene all the time. At home, in Dallas, I guess the main areas are Deep Ellum, not far from downtown, and Lower Greenville. Deep Ellum is more a live music venue and concentrates on modern rock and punk shows, although a lot of the newer clubs are more eclectic. Lower Greenville (on Greenville Street, duh. :D ) is Northeast of downtown and caters more to a slightly older crowd. There are a lot of trendy restaurants and bars and plenty of dance clubs. Of course, being such a big area there are lots of other places to go, depending on what kind of nightlife you're attracted to. There's Northside in Fort Worth for the urban cowboys and tourists, Oak Lawn in Uptown Dallas for the gay crowd, etc., etc. There's plenty to do. Living in such a small town with such a lack of diversity has changed my perspective a lot, because down here at school, when there's nothing to do there's REALLY nothing to do, but at home even when there's nothing to do there's still something going on somewhere. calybo 04-22-2004, 12:26 AM how i wish there was somewhere to go here in my teeny tiny college town. i mostly stay at home. sometimes i go to campus to like sit on one of the patios with my friend. if i wanted to go out, there's a city 20 miles south that i work in, there are bars and restaurants and places to listen to bands. but i like staying home, its a good thing i guess!:) EMCAD80 04-22-2004, 10:45 AM Pink~ The few times I've been to Texas have been fun...but it could have been more fun without the heat!!! Oh I can't remember the place I went to...something with River in it. It's a mall - eh, who knows. I've performed at the Alamo Dome...that's cool :) I've visited my Mom in Sugarland. And finally, my first visit to ****'s Last Resort was somewhere in Texas. I was 17 at the time and they ask you if your going to drink when you enter the front door. When you say no, they put big black X's on the back of your hand. Being the little rebel I was, I went straight to the unisex bathroom with my boyfriend (it was weird going pee next to him) and noticed the the X's wash off! So we enjoyed a drink together and had lots of fun!! Calybo~ I think the only place in NC that I've been to is Charlotte...and only then was that just to perform :p PinkPanther_04 04-22-2004, 01:38 PM Originally posted by EMCAD80 I can't remember the place I went to...something with River in it. EMCAD80 04-22-2004, 02:14 PM yeah yeah yeah! The Riverwalk...that's it! That's in San Antonio huh...yeah, that sounds about right....I recall going to San Antonio now :) sweetheart 04-23-2004, 02:58 PM I live in San Diego and it is great! My favorite place in the summer is P.B (Pacific Beach) It is so popular in the summer that sometimes it takes half and hour to park but it is worth it. We drive our 71 VW bus and sometimes stay the night. I love laying in the sun, playing sand volleyball, and rollerblading slowly along the boardwalk weaving in and out of skateboarders, walkers and beach cruisers. We walk ou to the end of the Crystal pier and watch the sun set. Later my husband and I like to walk into town. I check out all the little shops and then we like to eat at a little place called Fred's, a great, cheap little Mexican food place, or at the local Fat Burger and grab a Dairy Queen ice-cream. During the summer we go at least once a week. Last summer, went to Austin, Texas. We were going to go to River Walk but my husband's feet were swollen from stepping on a fire ant hill while we made out in a field on the way to see my sister-in-law. It was also very hot in Texas. BellaLove 04-23-2004, 05:39 PM Originally posted by EMCAD80 I'm soooo going to Santa Barbara this summer....we got to hook up!!! Awwww- Yea!!! :-) Its such a blast here!!! You gotta come!!!! I love how the Latin culture flourishes everywhere and people are soooo friendly! pgbrowngirl 04-24-2004, 12:11 AM I have to allow the hick to come out of me for a moment. The most happening spot in my little town is usually our parties in the middle of pastures. Yes, we have old fashioned hoe-downs! Even though I haven't been to one in a while. Let the Hee-Haw jokes begin! Meena03 04-24-2004, 01:09 PM My OM lives in Texas and i asked him about the River Center Mall on the Riverwalk in San Antonio....he told me about it...Im so going there:D England is small country (of course everything in the States is double the size compared to here that is even the roads). I live on the west of London... I would say to experince a good night out, you'd have to definately go into Central London. You have the best nightlife there and restaurants of all cuisines..then of course you have Oxford St. Thats a whole long street with the best shops ....any shop in England will be there, just bigger! Right next to it you have Bond St. where the shops of all top designers live i.e. Dolce and Gabban, Versace, Armani and a Calvin Klaine laugerie shop....It's the best! |
