Hmm.. I sure wouldn't want to go an entire month without washing my hair. Other cultures, Native Americans, for instance, bathed DAILY.. a habit that Europeans abhored, found unusual, and thought was bad for the health. I don't know that not washing hair has anything to do with it growing longer. I'd have to see some data on that.

I think your diet has a lot more to do with it than anything else. Once when I was purposely trying to grow my hair out I started taking prenatal vitamins and that worked like a charm (helps your nails too). Of course, it's probably good to talk to a doctor before you start taking high dose vitamins like that.
Also, I've heard that brushing your hair is really hard on it and you should only brush it as much as you absolutely have to. It makes sense to me.

Well I see my hairdresser every 2-3 months to trim off the dead ends of my hair.... because if you dont cut your hair regularly it will prevent your hair from growing like you want it.... also keeps it healthy..... I never blow dry my hair either unless I truely have to.. and I have naturally curly hair.... very very curly ;) shirley temple curls.. but it can cause your hair damage if you blow dry it to much.....if you do blow dry and let a little dry naturally.....
I also take prenatels yes i'm pregnant but I've been taking prenatals for years... it is sold over the counter and it's fine for a woman to take it even if they are not pregnant.. the only thing is is that there are a lot of vitamins not to much but if you take others then it would be a problem... Like there is a lot of zinc and folic acid in prenatals you won't need to take any additional.... so Prenatals are also very healthy for a woman pregnant or not ;) My hair has always grown fast and nails due to this vitamin... ;)

I take the prenatals too. I always laugh to myself when people see them sitting on my desk and make the assumption....
I don't think I could stand to wash my hair once a week! Omigosh, if I skip even a day it looks so oily and greasy. YUCK!
I always thought Borax was pretty harsh stuff, not real educated on it...but maybe that is why their hair looked clean even after a week, it stripped all the oil out of it! It seems like I remember when my grandma used something called 40-Mule Team Borax (supposedly had the strength of 40 mules). Cannot remember if that was a laundry soap, or just a cleaning agent for floors and such.
I have tried a lot of things over the years, including eggs and beer...but actually the prenatals have probably been of the most benefit to my hair, honestly.
My 1 cent (minus a penny because I just don't know a whole lot about this subject)
