Maria 05-30-2004, 08:56 AM I love Haiku.
There are many sites online about Haiku, and this one has some pictures with the poems. I hope you'll enjoy. I'll post some of their best examples.

Maria 06-02-2004, 02:14 PM I got this from this website http://www.uchiyama.demon.nl/egpoetry.htm and thought it was very well explained for those who didn't know:
The Haiku
Haiku
A haiku consists of 3 lines with 5, 7 and 5 syllables. In a haiku the deepest emotional feelings are written with these 3 lines, by describing nature in a simple way. The interpretation of a haiku is very difficult, because of these simple lines and one has to find the real meaning behind the words.
One of the most famous haiku's is from Matsuo Basho (1644-1694) and it goes like this:
Furu ikeya
Kawazu tobikomu
Mizu no oto
An old pond
A frog jumps in
The sound of water
Maria 06-02-2004, 02:15 PM I love yours, Scarlet. It's dark, beautiful.
ScarletHawke 06-02-2004, 11:14 PM Thanks, Maria. I like haiku a lot even though it's difficult to do properly. I think as a form it demands a lot of discipline and
teaches the poet to distill words through focusing on pure imagery.
The best haiku has multiple meanings in three simple little lines. Choosing your words to fit into a 5-7-5 syllable form is only part of the challenge...
Desert Spring 06-04-2004, 07:46 PM OK, I admit it's really, really dumb but I like this site:

P.S. The author was married to a man 7 years her junior! She
was also in a long-distance relationship and travelled to
meet her guy!

Maria 06-21-2004, 05:58 PM Wow, Patricia, I had missed your post! I didn't know that she was married to someone younger. When I was in Japan I noticed that there were many women in that case.
There's even a song for this: toshi shita no otoko no ko, meaning, younger man... ;)
I have a new one:

I have met my love.
When I compare this present
With feelings of the past,
My passion is now as if
I have never loved before.

With ginger kisses.
ScarletHawke 06-22-2004, 11:02 AM Lucky clever cat!
When my love embraces me,
I, too, want to purr.
