Question of the week 5/31EMCAD80 06-01-2004, 01:18 PM So seriously...how long does it take for you got get ready in the morning? EMCAD80 06-01-2004, 01:23 PM It depends on the way I'm going to wear my hair. It generally takes between a half hour and an hour ;) SthrnComfort 06-01-2004, 01:26 PM Hi There :) About the same for me too. Meena03 06-01-2004, 01:39 PM It depends. If i can't be bothered and went to bed late the night before then i would get up like 20mins before having to leave the house. But.. If I'm in a super good mood then i can take upto an hour and a half...i would wash, blow dry and straighten my hair...then make-up and then get dressed. (this is on very rare occasions for me). I used to do this when i used to visit my ex ...hehe Funny though because after my visit, my make-up would have all disappeared and my hair? ... well after falling asleep in his arms it would have gone all wavy again .. :D BellaLove 06-01-2004, 03:30 PM In the morning before work I only take about 20 minutes....I work with all women and I sit in an office all day so I don't really care what my hair looks like, I usually just pull it back into a ponytail. As far as make-up...I don't really wear any at work, I like to let my skin breath during the week. So, ya my morning routine isn't too crazy. I also HATE getting up early so I try to keep it as short as possible. :-) But, if your talkin' about getting ready to go out at night for a party or dinner....well, I can take plenty long!! Usually giving myself 2 hours to shower,do make-up,and do my hair is plenty time....it may take longer if i blow dry my hair and straighten it. OH! and to pick out my outfit and shoes....that could add another 20 minutes! :-) MadBess 06-01-2004, 06:01 PM If I have somewhere I have to be - about 45 minutes. If I have nowhere to be - I'll end up sitting around in my robe most of the morning! PinkPanther_04 06-01-2004, 06:09 PM Originally posted by MadBess If I have nowhere to be - I'll end up sitting around in my robe most of the morning! I'm glad someone admitted that or I wouldn't have ever come clean! :D If I don't have anywhere I absolutely have to be it's sooo hard to get motivated in the morning. I'm just not a morning person at all. But if I do have work or class to get to I need at least 30 minutes between feeding the dogs and letting them out, eating breakfast, and getting dressed. I hardly ever do a thing with my hair and even when I do wear makeup (which is rare) it doesn't take long at all. I'd prefer an hour so I'm not rushed, but since I'd apparently rather hit the snooze a few times (in my half-asleep state) I rarely get that luxury. emmiegirl 06-01-2004, 06:42 PM I rarely do anything with my hair or put on makeup before I leave the house, but it still takes me about an hour to get ready to leave because I shower every morning and have a fairly advanced skin care routine (about 5 steps). EMCAD80 06-01-2004, 11:16 PM Are you holding out on us Emmie? What's this mystery 5 step face cleaning you do? calybo 06-02-2004, 12:35 AM yes, do tell. and when am i going to stop breaking out? ugh. it's summer and i work afternoons/nights, so usually i sleep the morning away, have breakfast in my pj's, lay around or maybe go for a bike ride or something...it takes me about 25 minutes to drive to work so i usually start getting ready an hour before i have to be there. so i guess it takes just about 30 minutes for me to shower and dress. if i'm getting ready to go out or go meet someone or something it takes longer. not because i'm dressing up but because i am easily distracted and if i can be late i will be. MerAlove23 06-02-2004, 10:16 AM depends.... When I go to work about 20-25 min.......I just pull my hair back in a pony tail... no make up ... when i got out .. about 45 min.... when I got out dressy like to weddings and such 1 hour :) Depends on how much prep I have to do :) hehe MOON 06-02-2004, 10:38 AM When I have to wash my hair and when I have to work is when I take the longest. I wear minimal makeup, usually just mascara because my lashes are blonde and without it I look sleepy. Then there's my hair...OH GEEZE my hair!! When it was long, I didn't have to do anything with it, but I made the mistake of cutting it, so now I have to style it otherwise I look CRAZY!! And as a hairstylist, my hair MUST look good...I have to set an example:rolleyes:. And I have A LOT of hair, so that doesn't help. So on hair wash days days, I'd say it takes about 30 min. On the days that I don't wash my hair...15 min. tops! EMCAD80 06-02-2004, 11:59 AM I noticed a few of us love the classic pony tail....it helps wonders when you just don't have time for anything else! lol emmiegirl 06-02-2004, 02:36 PM By popular demand - my skin care routine is: face wash (usually a kiehls product) toner eye creme moisturizer (I like a couple of Sheseido products for this) Sun block I also use a body moisturizer and a separate hand creme. And Calybo, I didn't stop breaking out until I was about 26. I still get a random breakout every once in awhile, but its pretty rare. Don't lose hope. And if you really want to stop breakouts in their tracks, I recommend Proactive Solution. But make triple sure you have a lot of sun block on, and if you do go in the sun, always wear a hat. Well, do that anyway. :) EMCAD80 06-02-2004, 04:15 PM Thanks Emmie! Proactive totally worked for me, but to my dismay....my face got used to it and decided not to work after about 5 or 6 months :( I did take - oh I can't remember the name. It was a pill and it worked wonders for my face...I think I need to do that again! emmiegirl 06-02-2004, 04:38 PM EM, I tried to take oral meds for my skin but quickly learned that wasn't going to work because they all make me sick to my stomach. alas. Ah well, its all in the past now (hopefully). BellaLove 06-02-2004, 07:33 PM Ya, my skin was perfect until I turned 20.......now at 22 I am SO OVER breakouts!! They aren't gnarley or anything....but it sucks because I can't wash my face and go. I gotta stop and break out my concealer crap. UGH! I really don't want to use products that would be full of chemicals........I stick with my gentle Purpose cleanser, its actually great and I use Ponds oil free face moisturizer during the day and Clean and Clear oil free medicated face moisturizer at night. Nothing dryes out my face using those products....and my face easily dryes out. And I drink TONS of water, it doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe its just me?! LOL Well, anyways....lets all pray for clear skin!!! MerAlove23 06-02-2004, 07:39 PM well I stopped breaking out by the time i was 20.. and I did NOTHING lol... Now that I'm 29 and pregnant.. I'm breakin out again LOL... calybo 06-02-2004, 10:27 PM yeah, as i teenager i never broke out...it didn't start till i was probably about 20. not bad, just here and there, but i hate it! BellaLove 06-02-2004, 11:38 PM Calybo - you and I are one in the same. Mine isn't bad at all.....but I hate it because I know its there. You wouldn't even think I had a problem if you looked at me, but thats only because i put concealer over the little spots. Its so dang annoying! datura81 06-03-2004, 03:27 AM My skin has been really good now for a couple of years. There were times as a teenager when it was downright awful, but I did a pretty good job of covering it up. But lately I've been breaking out in small annoying places, I think stress is the main factor because that always causes it. And plus I always break out a little bit around my period. No matter how perfect it's been all month. Then it'll take another week for the spots to fade, two weeks of good, then the cycle repeats itself. Skin SUCKS. EMCAD80 06-03-2004, 11:41 AM Dat...did you just graduate? I noticed your title...hmmm...let us know! Yeah, so I remember what I was on...Accutane. MIRICLE DRUG! I think I might start on that again. My skin is just way too oily and it loves to break out...not just pimples...were talking the deep ones that grow so far under your skin that there is no hope for popping....which popping is bad...but you know what I mean. Emmie - I tried Minocycline and Tetracycline....hell if I know if that's how they are spelled, but they both made me terribly sick. Accutane was spectacular. It dries up your skin wonderfully. There are plenty of side effects...constant chapped lips, headaches...etc., and an annoying monthly visit to the dermatologist (for women) to check to see if you pregnant. I guess the stuff can cause some serious damage to an unborn child. They make sure (if you're sexually active) that you are using two forms of protection. I hated peeing in a cup. I knew I wasn't pregnant...but just going threw the process is scary - lol. I've been washing my face like crazy the past week or so...I tend to forget to wash my face before I go to sleep...BAD BAD BAD! Meena03 06-03-2004, 12:44 PM Originally posted by EMCAD80 I've been washing my face like crazy the past week or so...I tend to forget to wash my face before I go to sleep...BAD BAD BAD! I thought I was the only one, phew!...Okay i openly admit that i too sometimes forget to wash my face before going to bed.. I know, I know, tsk tsk tsk! EMCAD80 06-03-2004, 03:42 PM yeah, I do it more often then I should :( datura81 06-03-2004, 09:39 PM HI Em. Yes I did graduate, finally. Now I'm just unemployed and living at home. I think I preferred school. :( I find the less I wash my face, usually the better it behaves. And I don't have dry skin either, but it tends to dry out from too much washing and then it complains. GreeneyedWoman 06-05-2004, 11:31 PM Congratulations Datura. Enjoy your time off. Work comes soon enough. My face breaks out once a year and I get maybe two max. I use soap(Zest) and Oil of Olay. Simple and easy. No breakouts. I've tried other things over the years and found this is what works best. I use sunblock also. Because I'm so light I start burning very quickly. So I never mess around with it. Sunblock always. It takes me about 45 minutes to get ready. To shower, dress, and hair. I wash my hair every day. My hair is long and I part it and go. It's straight and is very fine. Sometimes I do the ponytail. My husband likes it loose. So that's what I usually do. EMCAD80 06-06-2004, 05:28 PM Congrats girl! It's an amazing journey....and I'm glad you're done! :) Enjoy what you have now...you have your whole life to work! |
