If the smarter you are, the longer it takes to figure out, then I must be a moron -- cuz it only took me two tries before I caught on. ;)

Actually, I think this has more to do with pattern recognition and metaphorical thinking, which I've always been fairly good at.

I'm gonna try this on my boy genius ym and see how long it takes him. Thanks Dan, it's kinda fun! :D

beenmisstaken, it is definitely a riddle and not a mathematical equation. I kept trying to make it more difficult than it had to be. Think of petals and how they look on a rose. That's the only clue I can give you and basically what Dan said to me.

I kept thinking rose was a play on words for rows

When you hate math as much as I do, you look for any solution where you can avoid math -- no matter how bizarre it is. That's my excuse... :rolleyes:
