Matt is graduating tonight. I am on my way to his school with my son, but I thought I would let everyone know...

Whew. I am so happy for him right now. I wondered if we were going to make it past this phase... it's a rough one age gappers....trust me!

It was so difficult because he kept our relationship from everyone at his school. Most of the kids there couldn't understand what he was doing so he opted not to even bring it up. I don't blame him for not wanting to turn our relationship into the joke of the school.

I have been to all his baseball games and I've had some dads hit on me, but I don't think that anyone would suspect I was with the First Baseman. LoL

That was before I had met his parents and we began sitting together. Then it was great because we would go to all the games together and I know his Mom had told a few of the other parents who I was but everyone treated me with kindness and respect. It was good.

Now he is graduated, and on to college. I feel like I can be more of a part of his life because we don't have to hide our relationship from anybody.

Ironically, there were very few people at my work that knew about my relationship with Matt, again because I had to work with them, I didn't want to chance that someone would get offended and then it might affect my job or something. I just let my boss think I was single.

Did anyone else do stuff like that? Or were you always very upfront with EVERYONE regardless of their position in your life?

We didn't hide the age thing from people and I guess technically we didn't hide us. We just didn't make it blatent at work since my former husband works there also.

If anyone thought badly they kept it to themselves and if they didn't have the courage to ask us we didn't care.

I can understand you keeping it quiet. Most people speak before thinking and there is no reason for them to know and get to make snide comments.

By the way, Congratualtions on moving to the next chapter of your story.

Gawd, what I would have given to have an OW in high school, while all my friends and classmates were still trying to get the attention of the cheerleaders. :eek:

Cinderella - yes, I am so excited to be onto that stage. Now there isn't a reason for us to keep it quiet from anyone now that he is done w/ school and I am moving on in jobs.
That must have been a bit "sticky" having your Ex at the same job as you, huh? Hopefully the break-up wasn't too terribly bad.

Babes , Harrison , and 1love -- Thank you all so much for the well wishes. I am going to enjoy the heck out of our trip, NO DOUBT.
Today Matt brought his laptop over, and I put 14 GIGS of MP3's on it, so we got some speakers and an adapter cord so that the computer runs off my car, and now we have ENDLESS music and no need to burn any CD's... as Special Ed would say.... !YAYE! YAYE! YAYE!
We shall camp and watch the NBA finals all along the way, I just can't wait!

The only snag though, is that my brother still isn't talking to me, so I am not quite sure how I am going to handle it when I am passing through Chicago visiting family. Will I just exclude him, since I have called and called and he won't return any of my calls. I certainly wouldn't just go over and make a scene, because apparently this whole OW/YM thing has really struck a nerve with him. He is very very angry and doesn't appear to be getting over it any time soon... sigh*

Aloysius - Ok, you had me laughing there... although it is true that having an OW sure means a lot less B.S. for the guy involved usually, but at the same time, it was pretty difficult to keep it hidden. Especially from his baseball team, who was trying to fix him up with every girl they could find so he didn't miss his Prom. What a bunch of guys... gotta admit that's kind of cool on their part, but Matt says, that is where it stopped. They were all talking one day, and this "boy" said he was going to have sex with this girl but she was 21 and that was wayyyyyy toooo old, even if she was Hot! Everyone agreed with that while that just furthered Matts resolve to not get into the middle of that with his team. Let them think as they may.



Ahhhhhhhh....... hey to those of you who are going to St. Louis, I am bringing a mixed case of local Sake. Hmm...the drinks I shall make with that.... Yummmm Yummmm.

Congratulations! A milestone reached, and more to look forward to together. :)
