BellaLove 06-04-2004, 09:02 PM I am so bummed right now......I got laid off today from my job. That is sooooo not a good thing right now, and I'm still in shock. The 'head-honcho' from the corpoorate office came to my office today and pretty much blew my socks off ..... the reason was so lame : "Since interest rates are starting to go up again, we are experiencing lower monthly fundings....so we need to start cutting staff and that means we need to let you go". Just like that!!! I realize that is the risk you take be being in the mortgage business, but heck, I thought I was good enough. I almost wanted to pull a 'Jerry McGuire' on the office when I was leaving.....lol.....that would have been good, real good. Its amazing how certain companies will chew you up and spit you out. Now its back to the drawing board.......this stinks man!!
Oh no Bella...
I'm so sorry! The corporate world sucks...
But you know, this can only mean that something BETTER is in store for you...
Keep your head up lady and ENJOY your time off!!!
calybo 06-04-2004, 10:43 PM aw bella, i'm sorry that happened...:(
so was today your last day or are you going back next week?
it'll be okay...
Meena03 06-05-2004, 03:50 AM I'm so sorry, Bella.
Intrest rates have gone up really high ..my mums mortgage has increased quite heavily. I was in literal shock when i saw the amount shes going to have to pay now.
It's getting really tough out there.
Though I know this off the topic but just as a little moan from my side, even being a graduate isn't considered enough now. You either have needed to done a Masters or had a good work experince.
MerAlove23 06-05-2004, 08:37 AM Bella I'm so sorryyyyyy :(
Remember things happen for reasons.... there is probably something so much better for you out there.. and if you were still committed to that job you may not of went for it!!!!
WE are here for you!!!!
Love ya girl
Mer
figlii 06-05-2004, 09:27 AM Ouch! What a bummer. Interest rates, indeed!
BellaLove, you know you're better than good enough. It's rough out there now, but you'll find another job. An even better one, like Mer says.
Now's the time to go shopping for shoes.
~C
MadBess 06-05-2004, 09:32 AM OUCH! That really sucks - I'm sorry to hear that.
But the economy is picking up ...... right? Um? So things should get better.
Good luck!
BellaLove 06-05-2004, 02:43 PM Thanks guys....ya, I am hoping I will land a better job. I just found out that I wasn't the only one laid off yesterday.....right after me they laid off the other 2 ladies in the office! They really cleaned up shop!! So much for having a stable job......Ness, maybe I should check out those gov. jobs you talked about. I have plenty experience in the mortgage business.....but I want something stable, that doesn't depend on interest rates. Hmmmm.......
I think I will go LOOK at shoes...not buy, not right now.
GreeneyedWoman 06-05-2004, 05:56 PM I am so sorry Bella.
I have to agree. This just means something better is in store for you. I honestly believe that.
Go window shopping for shoes and you will feel much better.
datura81 06-07-2004, 02:15 AM I'm sorry Bella. That's too bad, especially since you guys just got the new place. Well hey, they say someone our age will have on average 3 different CAREERS in their lifetime, and many, many jobs. There is no such thing as corporate stability anymore- the late 80's saw the end of that. You're young, it's not as if you're like one of my dad's friends who got laid off 10 years from retirement and had to start over at a ripe old age. I think that guy ended up going from a major corporation to managing the local Office Max. The world of employment can bite you in the butt.
Hey I read a cool Japanese proverb in one of my resume books:
"Fall down seven times. Stand up eight."
EMCAD80 06-07-2004, 03:27 AM Shhh...
did you hear that?
Go answer it Bella....OPPORTUNITY IS KNOCKING!
Have you ever hated your job?
Have you ever wanted to get up & walk out but never did because you know that would be irresponsible...well here's your chance to go get that BIGGER & BETTER JOB!
Get it girl...I have faith in you!
Dat...I love that quote!
tk5928 06-08-2004, 09:33 AM sorry to hear about your work woes.
definitely enjoy the free time, and use the rest and relaxation to get recharged and back on job hunt soon. :)
NeilDown 06-08-2004, 09:38 AM Hey Bellalove!
Sorry to hear about what happened to you!
The people you worked for obviously do not deserve you and their loss will be someone else's gain! :)
tereska 06-08-2004, 01:48 PM Sorry about that, Bella. I, too, am pounding the pavement right now. It's not a great place to be, but hey, change is life.
EMCAD80 06-08-2004, 02:29 PM very true tereska....but just remember...some fear change, others embrace it!
BellaLove 06-08-2004, 10:40 PM You guys help me so much....I am definitally taking this as an opportunity for something amazingly better, I hope. :-0
I really do hope I land a job I love, that would be awsome. 'C' knows a lot of people in town so he's spreading the word about me. :-) I'm just so pissed that this happened at the worst time..........I have always had a job since I was 14 years old, and never was I laid-off or fired, it just feels so insulting!
Well, in the meantime....here I am in our home. At least I can catch up with decorating and stuff.........
I'll keep ya updated. :-)
EMCAD80 06-11-2004, 09:31 AM Bella Girl...
I hope all is going well with you. I see you haven't posted for a while....looking for a new job? Got a new job already? Fill us in...I worry... :) I know all will be well, but we need an update :)
BellaLove 06-12-2004, 02:31 AM Hey guys.....I'm doin' fine. I haven't found a job yet. I did get a phone call from a guy looking to recruit experienced Mortgage loan processors, but I'm a little sketchy about staying in this business. We will see, I'm going to e-mail him my resume' anyways. Other than that, I have been getting a feel for how it will be when I'm finally a house wife!! I love it, although I do miss the feeling of getting business done. :-)
I have managed to keep myself from becoming depressed so far. :-)
MerAlove23 06-12-2004, 08:15 AM Great Bella!!!
Well even if you take it for now to have a job.. You may like it... if you don't then you always can still look for a job in the meantime!!
Chin up.... You will find something... your too great of a person to let go!!!
:)
EMCAD80 06-12-2004, 09:58 AM Amen Mer...she said it Bella!
I know you'll do fine...and I'm sure you're making a fabulous house wife :)
Keep us posted...don't forget us!!!
Jennifer 06-13-2004, 10:46 AM I am really sorry to hear that Bella. So, why not pull a Jerry Maguire. Go out an start your own Mortgage business. I know it easier said then done. but, why not. Don't feel too bad Bella I am sure you will find another job. Your not the only one that is being laid off. Their loss Bella becuase they let go an intelligent, charmong, beautiful, funny, freak in bed woman go. LOL
That happen to me on the second job I ever worked. My boss cried and he said that he wished he was firing me becuase it would have been easier. Either way I wanted to hit him LOL
girthbrooks 06-13-2004, 02:57 PM Yeah getting laid-off bites, but I have to agree with Jen. Being your own boss is the way to go...that is of course if you can.
good luck Bella
EMCAD80 06-14-2004, 11:39 AM I'm sure C is being super supportive right now....have you found anything? Maybe try Monster.com or is it Monsterjobs.com? Hmmm...well just some food for thought :)
