How many of us met our YM or OW online?

My bf and I met online, although none of our friends know that. They all think we met in a bar, which we did...the first time we met face to face that is.
I was just curious how many of us met online. Seems to be very common on this board.

My Jason and I met online, at a site of mutual interest, and started writing - a LOT. That was the beginning of 2003...we didn't meet in person until a few months after that. (He came to visit, we were doing the LDR thing at the time.) Now we've been a couple IRL for a year and living together for the better part of it. Just moved into a new apartment - new life, new state, new jobs...it's really fun. :D (I'm 40, he's 27.)

Best wishes!

And you and your Jason look perfect together, Goldiecat!

My Jason (27) and I (43) met here at Ageless. We met in real life twice, spent lots of time together but are still living with an ocean in between us!

I met Phil playing everquest. We were on line friends for a long time. We never talked about our personal lives, just played the game.

Then one night I asked him if he had a girlfriend and he said no. I asked him if he got lonely and he said "that's what the cat is for." He recently got a little kitten.

My marriage was in trouble from the beginning and he was one of the first people that I confided in. To everyone else we had the perfect marriage. I asked my ex for a divorce, he moved out, and Phil and I started talking intimately on the phone.

Then we met. And met again and again and again. He's 33 and lives in Oklahoma. I'm 46 and live in Maine. And in exactly 1 month from today, I'm flying to OK and not coming back alone!!! We're driving back together, him, his cat, and his stuff to begin a new life together and I CAN'T WAIT!!!

To this day I can't believe how lucky I am to have met this man.

My fiance and I met online about 16 months ago. We started as friends, but by last October, it was very serious. We met in person in March for the first time when I travelled to Bucharest, Romania, to meet him. Our meeting only confirmed what we already knew. We were in love and decided right then and there that we want to spend the rest of our lives together.

There! That's the abbreviated version. :D

edit: btw, that handsome man in the picture with me is him. ;)

Well, although I am not in a YW/OW relationship I hope I can still post here.

My boyfriend(OM) and I met online. We met last August on a fitness board I had been a member at for over two years before he joined in August. When he first joined I thought he was weird. Then one day I PM'd him to ask about gyms in what I thought was his area. I was going to be moving from my country to his at the time to study in university. He helped me anyways as he knew the area but I never ended up moving due to some circumstances. We didn't talk on the telephone until the week of my birthday which was in October. Slowly over time we got to know one another better. On May 26th of this year, after having talked on the telephone for 7 months we met in person. I visited him for two weeks. I will be back with in his country for three weeks in 12 days. I can't wait!

My boyfriend, 35, and I, 58, met 3 years ago when he answered my personal ad on SinglesNet.com. We met in real life within a couple of weeks for tea and talked for 2 1/2 hours! Then, we decided to start dating.

My boyfriend and I met online.
We lived 15 minutes apart so it was easy to make the transition from online to RL.

My husband and I met on line 5 years ago. We were on a BBoard for the Farscape TV show at scifi.com we got to talking and ...the rest is history. LOL

Peace,
Jane (56) who has been married to Dave (30) for almost 2 years!

Maria: Thanks for the kind words! You and your Jason were so great together, I could never have guessed you hadn't met more often... :) Hope to meet with both of you again!

To everyone in between, wow, congrats on all these online-to-IRL successes. Very very very cool. From us to all the skeptics: let's show 'em how it's done. :D

Bear'sAngel: Didn't realize it was Farscape you two were into. I had never seen it until my Jason insisted, so...now I know, it was a great show. (I always liked scifi tho.) It's a total coincidence about the color of my pic here, but you can guess which character Jason says I look something like...:p

Troy (34) and I (52) met online also, playing Neverwinter Nights, a fantasy role-playing game, on the Dasaria server hosted by my son-in-law. He was in Louisiana and I was in Georgia....it didn't take too long for him to move here, and here we are! Congrats, Kalri, on your man moving to you. Troy and I also did the road trip back to GA thing with all his stuff a couple of months ago. :)

One of my best friends is getting married this summer...she met her fiance' on EHarmony.com...most of the stories from locals I know about EHarmony are merely horror stories, but it did work for her.

I met my guy online-
as a matter of fact, right here at Ageless.
<img src="http://ChasingDownTheBlue.homestead.com/files/crush.gif">

Our freindship is only a month old and we are
building on a relationship that we hope will last a long time.
We chat every night on IM and talk on
the phone when time permits.
He's busy. I'm busy.
But we make that effort every night
to connect with one another.

We are hoping to get together in person come October
and both of us are feeling rather anxious about that.
Seems like a long time off in the distance,
but I know it will pass quickly.

I feel very fortunate to have met such a
sweet man-
he has lit up my life and I hope he feels
the same about me!

I am so proud and happy to say that I am the guy to whom sweet Sage refers! She PM'd me, I replied and the rest is history, as they say! Our plans are that she is going to come down to Los Angeles and stay with me when she gets her vacation time. I must beg to differ with her on one minor point--I'm not feeling at all anxious! :D Sage has lit up my life and is my "candle in the window!"

I see that Dave has "spilled the beans" for everyone
-<img src="http://ChasingDownTheBlue.homestead.com/files/slap.gif">

That is perfectly fine with me.

We have found a special friendship with one another
and each day I find more great things about Dave that make
me smile inside.

We both agree that these type of relationships
take time to cultivate and that a solid foundation
of friendship is most important.
So, that is what we are building on now...

The great stuff in life is worth waiting for right?
I think so....

I met my husband online 5 years ago in May of 1999. We were just friends to start with but he pursued me. Thought the age difference was not an issue. I was still married but trying to leave.........and I had two grown sons to consider. He kept pursuing and said all the right things. We've been married almost 4 years. My youngest son met his wife online too. They lived in the same town and got married within six months.
She is a little older than he is. Isn't it amazing ! The risk we take meeting online and then marrying ??? Courageous, brave folks we all are.

Add us to the list! We met online in a chatroom.

meshunny,

My youngest daughter met her husband online too. They lived only 3 miles apart! They dated for 18 months before getting married.

My son's partner is 8 years older than he is. Older women have always been after him since he was 19 years old! He is now 25 (26 on august 1).

My GF and I met at church, not online, although I do not have any issues with meeting online. Gotta be better than cruising the bars.

BTW, Red's Daisy, Thomas Merton is WAY COOL:D

I love the meeting online stories, Faye, Sage, Peachy and Joe, all of you!
Will and I met here on ageless July of 2002, I think our thread is gone :( he posted an ad for King looking for his Queen, and I was wondering why there was so much attention on it, and went there and flirted with him. Than we chatted a few times, he was too "old" for me, I was kinda "young for him" well, we became very good friends than we fell in love one rainy August night (online)
We are getting married July 23rd, off da 12 days!!.
I am 8.5 years younger than him.
Love works out no matter what the age.

PS our new neighbors had a party, and they met online too!!

I met my y/m online 2 years ago . We were friends for a few monthes and found we could talk to each other so easily and about anything. Then after we found it was turning into more than friendship, we had monthes of going through all the "what about this" and "what if" questions. We talked every day for hours, and since we only lived 2 hours apart we finally got the courage up to meet. It was just like I thought it would be. WONDERFUL. We probably look like the oddest couple going but to us, we are the perfect mates for each other. I have been living with him now for over a year, happier than I have ever been, and we plan to get married once I get through a messy divorce.

I am the odd one out it seems... :-)
We met at a MX meeting, I was the timekeeper/scorer and she was stripping (writing down the numbers of competitors as they pass the finish, before anyone wonders), it just grew from there.
These days I am running events and she is now the timekeeper. (Got promoted from stripper see)

For the past week I have been spending time every day with the only guy who I DIDNT meet online since I became single 3 years ago.
So, this is new for me----we already knew there was a physical attraction there after several weeks of saying hello and making chit-chat, we actually had some real conversations and discovered that we have alot in common and can pass an hour on the phone easily before meeting up, even tho I can see his apartment from my window!
He's 5 years younger than me, so I guess he IS a YM
:p

Yes, I had been talking to another member for several weeks, and we decided to meet to see if persuing the relationship further was something we both wanted to do.
It turned out that we both didnt want to, so there you have it. :)

Its all good and there is no need to shut up about it.
No hard feelings and all is well!!

When we met for the first time, it was like we had known each other forever. When our date ended, he came back to my place and talked. Before we realized, it was 3 am. He ended up sleeping in my son's room because he lived 1.5 hours from me.
We spent the whole next day together too.
