whiterose 07-16-2004, 09:14 PM Originally Remi and I had not planned on visiting again until the visa is approved. But, I am in agony not being able to see him or touch him. :( So, I told him tonight that I am considering returning for another week together in the fall sometime.
He is in the process of trying to decide what to do until he comes here. His apartment lease is up after October, which is coming up quickly. He may have an opportunity to move to Bucharest with a guy he knows (his former boss' son). It would be a terrific opportunity for him. Job opportunities are supposed to be good there, plus, he may even enroll in some studies until he comes here which would help take his mind off missing me so much. :)
He'll find out in two weeks when he goes there to take some entrance exams and be interviewed. So, everyone keep your fingers crossed for him! Even if he doesn't get to school, hopefully he can stay with that guy and get a job in Bucharest and remain there until he moves here. AND it would be much easier for me to visit him there, rather than go all the way to the north of the country where he currently lives.
Wish us luck. :)
Desert Spring 07-16-2004, 09:27 PM Good luck!

whiterose 07-16-2004, 09:33 PM Heck no. I had planned on putting it in the mail tomorrow, but I've been so busy all week I haven't finished putting it in order. I want to double, triple, and quadruple check it to make sure everythings all set.
Thanks for the good wishes DS and Chris!

silverlasha 07-18-2004, 09:56 PM A trip is a wonderful idea. and I do hope your processing goes quickly. It can't start till you get it in tho. I hope for your sake he does get the opportunities in Bucharest
whiterose 08-01-2004, 08:40 PM Remi has been accepted into Universitatea Media (Media University) in Bucharest. :) He is going to study Business Management while he is there. This next week he will be meeting his teachers and getting an orientation to the campus.
What he is most nervous about is living in Bucharest. He is a country boy moving to a city with a population of 2 million. I know that when we were there in March, he was very afraid of getting lost in the city. So, we didn't get out much. And, he is still afraid of getting lost. Plus, it's very noisy there. I remember some nights there in March that I didn't sleep much because of all the noise.
Anyway, until he gets settled in and finds a job and we have some sense of what amount of time we would have together there, I am not going to reserve any airline tickets. (sigh) I just hope that he is able to find a job soon and gets to know what his schedule will be so that we can make a decision about whether I should return.
silverlasha 08-01-2004, 09:52 PM I am so happy to hear that he was accepted at the University
Being in a large city is intimidating , but I am sure he will adapt to that. It will be getting around looking for the job and so forth that will take a lot of time at first for him.
Is it possible that the University would have jobs where he could work, on campus? or possibly close by? At campus' here in the states many Universitites have employment centers on campus particularly for students that are not familiar with large cities.
Also it helps business that want part time help and university students are usually conscientious as they need the money.
So I wish him the best of luck and hopefully that can speed your visit!
Hugs
christina923 08-02-2004, 03:02 AM great news katrina!!
and the apartment?
alin?
whiterose 08-02-2004, 04:52 AM Silver: I am pretty sure the university does have some jobs because the guy he will be living with has a job there himself making videos. But, if not, I believe there will be other opportunities for him.
Chris: His lease will be up on his apartment in October. But, he will begin classes by sometime in September as far as I know. So, unfortunately, he will have a month or two where he won't even be living in his old apartment. But, it's worth it to go ahead and go to Bucharest for this opportunity until he comes here.
In Bucharest, he will be living in an apartment with his ex boss' son who is already a student there. He won't have to pay any expenses until he is able to find a job.
Alin is much better. Last week, Remi accompanied him from Iasi, where he was hospitalized, to Sibiu to where his mom is living. He said he slept most of the trip. It really wore him out. It was a very long hospitalization. 3 1/2 months. If he were in the U.S., he would probably have been there no longer than 4-6 weeks. But, the good news is that he is able to walk again, he is eating, and is talking -- although his sleep is still somewhat slow. Thanks for asking about him!
