Question of the week: 7/19/04EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 11:46 AM What kind of dreams do you have? Do you have reoccuring dreams? Does your days events effect your dreams? Maria 07-19-2004, 12:00 PM Most of my dreams are made of little details of things that happened to me during the day. Last evening I washed my hair and didn't blow dry it. I had an article to write and then I played some Sims :p and when I went to bed, my hair was all curly! During the night I dreamed I was at a party (for which I have really been invited), had a blue dress full of embroidery exactly like I saw on TV, and curly hair! The I have this recurrent dream, it has been a while that I haven't had it, that I'm flying. I fly everywhere. I see people down there and sometimes I start to fall without being able to control my flight, and someone tries to catch me to do me harm, but I fly high again - but it was not me controlling it! It makes me wonder if I need professional help with that! ;) EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 12:04 PM I had a weird dream last night. I was swimming in the ocean....then all of a sudden I was in the middle of nowhere in the ocean, just foating. There was water all around me. Then I saw something swimming towards me...there were two of them. I wasn't sure what the heck it was...it was getting closer and closer. It was two baby baluga whales. They swam circles around me....very playful. Then something was coming at me. I wasn't sure what it was. It looked like an elephant's trunk...but elephants don't live in the ocean. But...for some odd reason this one did! I was scared....so I started to swim. I swam and swam...the whales left after a while...but the elephant followed me. When I got to land the elephant still followed me. It became my pet. Before I woke up...the elephant and I went to a concert together...too funny. *coded* Ocean - A good omen as long as it's calm. An impoprtant project at work is about to be concluded and you are about to make a useful friend. Romance is also featured. Adrift - this refers to a problem you can't solve or refuse to face. Land safely and all will be resolved. But if not you will have to tackle serious difficulties because you simply can't make up your mind. See yourself rescued in your dream or swim to safety and success will follow hardship. Float - at sea an you'll soon see sparkling success. Animals - Elephants show you are in good health. You are also about to meet someone important who will influence your career. Whales are potective influences working around you, and your worries will soon be over. That's interesting.... EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 12:05 PM I hardly ever have reoccuring dreams...it's happened...but it's rare. And it has been known that my days events have a small effect on what I dream ;) EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 12:31 PM Originally posted by Maria Most of my dreams are made of little details of things that happened to me during the day. It makes me wonder if I need professional help with that! ;) Curls - spell exciting changes for the better on their way. For a woman curls mean the arrival of a new man in your life. For a man it means its time to break off a relationship. It could harm your reputation. Flying - As with falling, this is a common dream. Its interpretation is largely sexual. Flying is a kind of boast about sexual powers. Dreaming of flying tends to indicate taht you're unhappy and not in control of your life. Your ambitions are not being fully realised. Self-esteem is low, and dreaming of flying is often makign up for lack of sexual experience. Falling - Dreaming of falling is very common. It is a symbol of fear in real life - perhaps o ffailing at work or in your lvoe life. Falling often expresses a need to let yourself go more and enjoy life more. Dreaming of falling can often stem from isolation: however successful you are, you can still feel isolated, and this dream is common among professional men and women. Falling in the dream is an unfulfilled need for suport and affection. It's a dream that often occurs when the dreamer is feeling misunderstood or not accepted in a situation. PinkPanther_04 07-19-2004, 12:39 PM I don't usually remember my dreams. The ones I do remember usually revolve around some problem I'm trying to solve (in the dream, not in real life). The recurring feature is that usually, for some reason, I can't will myself to do whatever it is I need to do. For example, I need to go help someone but I find that I can't move at all, no matter how much I want to. It's usually a physical thing, like my feet are stuck to the ground or I'm suddenly paralyzed or something. But in my dreams I always feel like it's a mental failure, like if I only tried harder I'd be able to break free of whatever it is holding me back. I guess it's a reflection of my fear that I'll let people down if they're depending on me for something. EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 12:45 PM my book doesn't have anthing that I can find for you, Pink :( PinkPanther_04 07-19-2004, 12:47 PM That's okay, Em. I'm pretty sure I know what it means already. I just have to keep working on that part of myself in real life. EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 12:55 PM awesome....at least you know what it means...and it makes sense to me! :D Maria 07-19-2004, 12:59 PM Em, that is a good book you have there!! I mentioned I haven't had the dream with flying and falling for a while now, and guess what. I have felt more satisfied (clearly! :) ) in my life lately, both sexually and professionaly. I shared this in another thread here, but I had never had an orgasm until I was 40, now how accurate is that dream interpretation? My mother once told me, like your book, you have to let yourself go more. Fascinating! It's incredible that it mentions that that kind of dream is common among professional women and men. It's true that I had a lot of those dreams when I was doing my Ph D, perhaps the isolation and the pressure I went through during those 8 years in Japan accentuated my fears. Japanese culture is the culture where you learn to put yourself always in a lower position as compared to others: they praise humility to a level that for us is actually humiliation. So you have to "humiliate" yourself everyday. No big deal for them, big deal for Westerners... Interesting thread! EMCAD80 07-19-2004, 01:02 PM Yeah, sometimes I don't agree with this book, but other times I do. And this one seems to be right on the moneyfor you...aweseom! :D BellaLove 07-19-2004, 04:17 PM Most of the time my dreams are made up of things in my past. Like, just last night I had a dream about my ex....and we were at a bar, i told him I had to run a quick errand and I will be right back, but I never came back!! LOL Kinda funny really....But some dreams are so detailed!![ I dream about getting to work and realizing I don't have any shoes on......sometimes clothes...... Falling is something I feel when I'm about to fall into deep sleep, and i awake with a jerk because I feel as if I'm falling....its like I can feel it in my legs! Weird. EMCAD80 07-23-2004, 11:34 AM Bar: If you were behind it, you will be tempted to do something you know is really wrong. Drinking at the bar, do try to control those passions. Watching others at a bar means you are more highly thought of than you realise. But don't let it go to your head! *there's a long list about work* Work: See yourself out of a job and you will shortly have a choice of opportunities. Offer jobs to others and you're getting a bit over confident about something- it could be expensive. I could elaborate on work if you saw any of these in your dream: briefcase, business, board, directors, factory, files, job, labor, pay raise, resign, retire, secretary. Nakedness: in a dream is quite common. If you see yourself naked then things are about to improve. You may even have a stroke of money luck. See others naked an dyou will uncover some kind of deception among those close to you. Walk naked in the street and you are in for a disappointment. If others are naked it can be a great time for love. bella belle 07-26-2004, 04:45 PM Originally posted by EMCAD80 What kind of dreams do you have? Do you have reoccuring dreams? Does your days events effect your dreams? Usually I don't remember my dreams unless they are really weird or just scary. The past few months I keep having nightmares. Really weird nightmares. I think it's because I watch National Geography Channel right before I go to bed. They always have a show about indegenous (sp?) tribes of different countries. Usually it's African tribes. They focus on their interesting cultural events and ways of life. My dreams are usually about African men doing really weird things. One night a few months ago I had a dream about an some Africans who practices sex changes as children and the men had some sort of weird aparatus that they wore around their penis to stretch them. Really weird! I use to have a recurring dream at least once weekly. It's been a while since I've had this dream though. I've had it for over 10 years. I use to have a bed that was really high off the ground and a comforter that was extremely thick. I'd always dream that the ceiling above me would open up and thick sheets of the filling that is inside comforters and pillows would come out and suffocate me. As a child, when I had this dream it was usually because I would have to urinate at that point. My days events effect my dreams tremendously. Usually the last thing I do, watch, eat, talk about, etc. will be in my dream in some way. Last week, for example, my boyfriend, his friends and I went SCUBA diving. All four os us did 2 dives. Then Jeff and I sat at a picnic table while my boyfriend and Rob dove a 3rd time. Jeff and I started talking about his relationship and how unhappy he was and my relationship with my boyfriend and how happy we seemed. Then as we left to drive back to Canada, I asked my boyfriend what we would be doing that night when we went home. I mentioned I wanted to go to a bar that sells whiskey shots for $1.40 USD. He says we could go to a strip club that sells whiskey for $0.35 more and we'd get to see girls. Ofcourse, Rob and Jeff are shocked that I agree to go to the strip club. Well that night, although we never went since we were tired, I dreamt that Jeff, my boyfriend and I were in a strip club together. datura81 07-29-2004, 03:13 AM My dreams are almost without exception TERRIFYING. I always dream that someone is chasing me and trying to kill me. Or if not that, then something extremely unpleasant and disturbing. For example, once I dreamed of being in a little boat with Jesse Ventura, in a lake where there were dead babies floating. And we had no oars. Another time I dreamed of something to do with being in a boat on a stream, but everything I was passing by disturbed me. I don't remember exactly what was going on, just nasty stuff. It's always like I'm drifting and I can't get out. Or else I dreamed I was in a huge dinner party with hundreds of people, but there was a man with a large knife following me through the crowd and every so often he would slit someone's throat to show what he was going to do to me when he caught me. I never get caught but I have woken up in a cold sweat and/or crying. Or else it's being chased by people in a car when I'm on foot, and just trying to hide from them until they drive by, but I'm always running. So I guess it's either being chased by madmen or being stuck in boats with really gross things around me. Oh and there was that one time, and this was an anomaly, where I had a dream that Brad Pitt raped me on the set of a TV show. Where that came from, I have NO idea, like the rest of my dreams, but when I woke up boy did I smack myself in the head. At least if I had to have sex with Brad Pitt in a dream, couldn't it be consensual? He would never have to force me IRL. :o EMCAD80 07-29-2004, 11:47 AM LOL @ Dat...yeah, I would want to be w/ Brad Pitt in my dreams too. A friend of mine was telling me that after being in the military he constantly had dreams of watching his platoon die. So he trained himself to take charge of his dreams...he says it's easy....how on Earth can you do that? Does anyone know how to do this? Or even how it works? |
