Shewolf 07-26-2004, 06:05 AM Just wanted to share my GREAT news with u all :D I start University on Sept 20th YAY!!!!!!!!! .......
This past week I had my interviews an tests, Sheeeeeeeeeesh the written test was tough, I had writer's cramp!!! :( I don't normally write anything by hand and had to write a whole essay longhand!!!!!!!!!!!! (looked like a spider on speed had been breakdancing over the pages) LOL ......... Musta been worth the pain tho, cos on Saturday morning I got the letter confirming that I have my place........ During Induction week I have to spend some time with the Disabled Student's officer so we can assess what levels of special help I may require etc. ...................
Bottom line is that come Sept I become a full-time student, with all the priviledges an perks that brings! EG:
Unrestricted access to the Student's Union bar.......
The right to wear 'weird' clothes in public, everyday .....
The right to sleep all day, an party all night .......
The right to be refered to as "another 'darn' good for nothing, lazy ***ed student".......
The right to make up totally unbelievably complicated excuses for late submission of assignments .........
The right to accumulate debts in the region of £30,000 over the next 7 years.............
The right to consider 'beans on toast' as a real meal, or a sandwich an chocolate bar eaten in the park as expensive alfresco dining ........
Oh and did I mention unrestricted access to the Student's Union bar?????????? LOL (List supplied by friends who r students :D)
Harrison 07-26-2004, 07:15 AM Congratulations, Shewolf!
I believe learning should be a lifelong endeavor!
That is outstanding news. Simply fantastic.
whiterose 07-26-2004, 07:30 AM Good for you!! I know that you'll do well there. :)
Maria 07-26-2004, 07:37 AM It's a long road that will get you tired often, but if learning and dedication were easy things there would be no merits in getting a degree. Many still think it's easy, but it's not. It's really a job!
It's a question of discipline, too, and I am sure you have that! Go for it and have fun learning!
whisper 07-26-2004, 11:22 AM How fun, Shewolf. I'm excited for you. Learning is my favorite thing in the whole world.
Let us know how it goes after you've started classes. Keep us all posted!
ravenglow 07-26-2004, 11:24 AM Awesome news Shewolf! Go kick butt (and have some fun in the process!)!

WiserNotSadder 07-26-2004, 08:31 PM CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Like Whisper, I find learning to be my very favorite activity (I supposed if I had a man in my life I'd have an additional "favorite activity" ;) ).
However, don't feel discouraged if the learning at University doesn't always seem "fun." To tell the truth, learning what someone else has decided that you need to learn, on a tight schedule, is not always enjoyable. Sometimes you will wonder why on earth the professor thinks you need to know this or that...
Don't give up! The real "fun" will come later, when you have the freedom to learn what you want, when you want.
As a professor, I must say that it is very nice to be paid to learn (professors are always learning new stuff). However, I confess that having to learn on a schedule (professors learn on a schedule, just like students) is not always fun. But... when I'm on my own time, I just love to see what new books are out there, or what new educational television programs have come out. Life is a banquet of knowledge!
Shewolf -too cool!! You are something else, and you have such a great sense of humor through everything you have been through and go through!!
Love ya,
Abby
Savannah 07-27-2004, 05:32 PM CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Just when you think you're too old to be putting in an all-nighter to get an assignment completed...... you'll find yourself doing it again! :D
Go for it, girl!
princessdy 07-27-2004, 06:54 PM You go gurl ... Learning is my favorite thing to do as well and I haven't finished going to school either, lol. I just received my bachelors in 2001 after working fulltime and going to school fulltime and I graduated with a 3.67 gpa!
Now that I've fallen in love with photography, I will, in a few years get my Masters in Fine Arts, Photography and then hope to teach at university. All this AFTER my children are grown and very successful doing their own things.
I think it's GREAT that you are going to begin a whole new chapter in your life. And btw, I met some of THE cutest younger men while in school. :D
Have a great time!!! I already KNOW you will do well. :)

Shewolf 07-28-2004, 06:05 AM Thank u all for ur kind words and encouragement I cannot begin to tell u how much it means to me :D ............
I know the years of study r going to be a mixture of pleasure an pain an that some of it is gonna be down right boring LOL...... I feel I am up to that challenge now tho'.........
Savannah, I can't imagine that a 'all-nighter' to complete an assignment will be any worse then the all night sessions on the PC playing Civ III :( Sheeeeeesh, I, really, need a life LOL
Pink cat ........ u asked what I was planning to major in...... Well, the first year I am taking an access year (do Americans call it a foundation year?) which comprises of 4 units. the ones I have selected r..........History, Sociology, Computer studies and Law........ In my second year I will move on to the formal degree course, at the moment I am looking to take Medieval History, although Pre-History and Archaeology is looking good too, then again I may plump for Anthropology and Archaeology there r all subjects that fascinate me. I will spend a lot of time investigating and evaluating the various options during my first 2 semesters
