To come back from a 50% chance of surviving cancer to win the Tour de France a record SIX TIMES!!! What an inspiration!

Go Lance!!!

LANCE ARMSTRONG WINS TOUR DE FRANCE A RECORD SIX TIMES! (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5410879/)

I haven't yet read this article, but I have read a lot these days about Lance. Everybody agrees he is the big star of Tour de France. A Texan!

And you know, despite all that, some people say he's quite arrogant. And criticize the fact that he left his wife who had to go through two IVF (in vitro fertilization) pregnancies (because he had had testicular cancer and probably had collected his sperm before the treatment and is now sterile), for Sheryl Crow.

I really admire his determination, and his discipline. I think people tend to judge the man instead of the athlete and that's why he's not so popular here. Many people say he's too arrogant, others think he is not absolutely "clean" of all the performance enhancing drugs that many of those athletes use.

There's probably a lot of lies and jealousy inside all this, and I can't stop admiring a man who is so determined to be good at what he does.

Maria, last I heard Lance's wife dumped him and Sherryl Crowe (10 years his senior) is a recent relationship. The thing is that we can't ever really know what happened because we never hear the true story. I have heard that he is arrogant and that his ex-wife treated him badly. We hear bad things because most people are more interested in dirt than they are in how nice someone is. :(

The facts are that he won in spite of them changing the rules to try to prevent it. He shows what you can do when you have to. He is a great role model for anyone with a serious illness.

Peace,
Jane

Hmmm... I just read my post and realized that I sounded snotty to you Maria. I am very sorry, that was not my intention at all. I do apologize.

I am tired of the media always looking for dirt. I can't imagine how celebrities stay sane. If the media can't find something wrong -- they make it up.

Lance's achievement is incredible and yet the media is ready to point fingers and make trouble all in the hope of selling more magazines.

Lance's marriage has been in trouble for a long time. I'm not surprised that it finally died. For one thing he's never home. For another people fighting cancer have to become incredible selfish. If you aren't married to someone who can support that, the relationship is going to suffer. Now he's seeing an Older Woman, so the press has to make something extra out of that.

On my network pc at work I'm over at MSNBC and they have a "commentary" where some one who has never made a movie in her life is calling M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense") a hack. Then they let the reader vote if she is right or not. What the hell is this? People with no talent pointing fingers at those who do have it to justify their petty existance. :p

I hope Lance does ride again next year and wins again. We really really need heroes like him. Who else is there to look up to?

Peace,
Jane

:) Jane, you sounded just fine, as I said, I also find it sad that people will look for the gossip and not at the great athlete he is.

Thanks for your words, but you don't have to worry, I understood you! :)
