The Verdict Is In ...

Finally! I went to the doctor's yesterday to find out the results of my blood test and here is his determination:

I have very low thyroid, too much estrogen (estrogen od), and too little progesterone and testerone. He's going to even the three hormones and bring the thyroid level wayyyyyyyy up. He said that the thyroid level is close to being in big trouble and so he will increase that little by little so as not to shock the body. The doc also said that these problems have EVERYTHING to do with my little weight gain. I'm so excited this mystery has been solved. I'm hoping to be in my size 6 in short order, lol. He said the estrogen od holds water, and the low thyroid holds weight! Between the two is most probably THE reason I could not lose this 20 no matter WHAT I did. Additionally, i SHOULD feel way slowed down with the thyroid problem (thank goodness I have a high metabolism to begin with), and when I was talking to a friend, she said that I should be thankful that I didn't gain more like ONE HUNDRED POUNDS!!!! She suggested that thyroid tilt peeps can sometimes gain way more than I did. I don't really know how to be heavy to begin with, so this has been buggin me for a very long time.

Anyway, I am expecting that i can look and feel "normal" in short order ... perhaps within a month!!!!

THANK.............. GOODNESS ... :)

If you have weight around the middle, perhaps a blood test to determine what your levels are is in order ... This is really a wonderful report to me. I would not have guessed these results ...

Thanks everyone. It is so nice to KNOW why your body is acting differently than what you are used to ... and I've waited for this answer quite a long time.

Very interesting.... I have low thyroid or Hashimotos Thyroiditis which is where the immune system attacks the thyroid. I take extra thyroid every day also.

Is your Estrogen naturally too high or where you supplementing?

I was supplementing, but just estrogen. I knew I should be taking progesterone, but I didn't know how much ... this being the problem with each area of hormones he has now prescribed. So I thought I might be oding ... which I was. Now that he has decided on the "right dosage" for the three, in addition to the thryoid med, I should be close to brand new in a very short while. Waiting for my drugs to be delivered on Monday :). He orders the estrogen, progesterone, and testerone mixture from Suzanne Somers own compound pharmacy, which of course uses only natural hormones ...

Size 6 here I come !!!!

Hey... great news for you princessdy. I'm glad the docs found the problem. I was just talking about this very issue (thyroid malfunctioning) with a close friend of mine. She has all the symptoms of this and was going to a gym five times a week and GAINED wait and didn't lose her tire. Maybe I can pop her a link to this thread, so she can have some more information to back up the busload I already sent her. :D

Good luck, and I hope you make the size 6 REAL soon!

Oh that's great that this information might help someone else. That's exactly why I decided to share it. I'm just finding out with all these new "meds" going into my body, my doctor has told me that it might take a couple of months to get it all "evened out". Of course I was hoping for instantaneous size 6, but I will wait until my body realizes I'm giving it what it needs so it's ok to be small again, lol.

Again, hope your friend heeds your advice. This little discovery means much more than a tire around the middle ... it is intricately attacted to lots of other bodily functions ... :)
