A certain someone from this board got me a movie I've sought after for a long time...
Made in '79, the year I was born. The movie didn't get alot of attention at first, but it is now a cult classic and really, it should be in any Zombie lover/horror lover's collection...
It is Lucio Fulci's "Zombie"...
The DVD I recieved of course had the standard Zombie cover....Widescreen....5.1 surround sound...
Popped it in Saturday night...
And WOW! I LOVED IT! The plot has alot to do with an island tribe and voodoo bringing the dead back to life. The special effects and visuals....where, in my opinion...on par with the likes of Tom Savini (sp) and George Romero. These movies don't scare me anymore, but I LOVE the GORE. And this once, I admit, made me wince and shudder during a particular graphic eyeball/wooden shard scene....
It also have a very interesting scene with a shark vs. a Zombie.
*LOL*
If you consider yourself a zombie movie lover or a horror afficiando...you HAVE to get this movie, as to many (including myself)...it ranks right up there in the Zombie genre with the ORIGINAL Dawn of the Dead as the Great Zombie movies ever made....
Interesting enough, as a tidbit. In Italy...Dawn of the Dead was released with the title "Zombi"...and in Italy...THIS movie that I'm speaking of...was "Zombi 2"...kind of almost like a sequal to Romero's movie...
This is definetly a must have! It has all the ingredients a Good Zombie movie should have: Zombies (lots of them!), GORE! (in all the right places and not too much) and EXPLODING HEADS!
*LOL*
