As Danelectro, I posted the Shred is not dead thread. In that thread, I postes a poll to vote for you fave player on my list of ten. Well, now that I am Dan Echo, I will echo that idea once again, only this time with a somewhat updated list. You all know that I voted for Yngwie. Now who's your fave?

I have to say, since last time I have (i think  ) changed my answer from Vai to Satriani.. I have to say, after G3, Satriani blew me away that night. He gets my vote. :D

Gotta agree. I like Satriani better than Vai too.

Nuno is in the most recent Guitar One Magazine, the one with Motley Crue on the cover! Great article.

Malmsteen can, Vai probably can, Satriani can, Randy Rhoads could, Michael Angelo can, not sure about SRV, Nuno and Johnny Winter, and Danny Gatton definitely could.

He's an excellent player! I could post a maximum of ten, so I picked the best variety that I could think of at the time.
Sally, Mike Stern probably has recorded something in 9/8 time, and Allan Holdsworth, another who escaped my memory at the time I put together the poll, is another good place to start. Holdsworth, unfortunately, is hard to find.
When I put together a similar poll (Back when I was posting as Danelectro), I listed people who were specifically shred players for the most part. Nobody had even heard of any of them except for Vai and Satriani, so I tried to list people that might have a bit more recognizable names. There were also a few that I left off just because of how over exposed they are, Eddie VanHalen topping that list, great player though he is. He was in my first poll, and nobody voted for him anyway, so I felt safe. If the poll allowed for twenty choices, Eddie would have made it, as would have Tony Iommi, Glen Tipton, KK Downing, Jeff Beck, Mike Stern, Allan Holdsworth, Vivian Campbell, Rory Gallagher, Ace Frehley, and John 5.
As it was, the only player on my previous poll that five people complained about not being included was Nuno, so I made sure that he was on the list. In reality, there are sooooo many great players out there that it would be impossible to list them all in a poll with over a hundred choices. Also, all great players are not shredders. I tried to limit the poll to known shredders, though not necesarilly those associated with shred, another reason why I neglected to include Mike Stern, though I know he can definitely shred if so chooses.
Now, should any of you know of cool players not on the list, then, like Littleowl, please post their names. If I havn't heard of them, I am always looking for new music, so I would like to hear of them so I can check them out.
Keep on rockin',
