May you rest in peace, you will always be Superman to me.

No matter how many movies of Super Heroes are remade now a days, There will never be a Superman like him to me.

The Associated Press:

Christopher Reeve, the star of the Superman movies whose near-fatal horse riding accident nine years ago turned him into a worldwide advocate for spinal cord research, died Sunday of heart failure, reports the Associated Press. He was 52.

Reeve fell into a coma Saturday after going into cardiac arrest while at his New York home, his publicist, Wesley Combs said.

Reeve always will be known to movie fans as the strapping, boyishly handsome stage veteran whose charm and humor brought a new dimension to the characters of Superman and his alter-ego, Clark Kent.

This hit pretty close to home for me. Not all that shocking, given his condition, but this news is, nevertheless, so damned depressing. Obviously, I didn't know him as a person, but his dead-on portrayal of Superman helped shape whatever morals I have now as a human being. He was one of my few childhood heroes. And, later on, his remarkable courage with paralysis and his extremely heroic crusade for other people with it truly inspired me even more. Like some people, I just knew he would walk again. I honestly believed it. That's how powerful his spirit was. He really made us all believe that a man could fly.

At the end of every Superman movie, there was that classic scene of Superman flying over Earth and smiling at the camera as he passed by, watching over us. I'd like to think he's doing that right now.

Rest easy, Chris. And thank you.

Super Heroes never truely die, they will always live on forever in our hearts.

There is a line from the Sandlot that came to mind when I think of him.

"Heroes get Remembered, but Legends Never Die."

Just wanted to share that.
