The other thread is gone because when Jerry decided to leave, he asked that his posts be deleted. And he was the person who originally started the other thread.

Random thought.... why do I stay up until 11:30 pm when I have to wake up at 5:30 every day??

I'll second that, Phos. I tried my best. Sometimes by the time I get here and get involved in a situation, its already so far gone there is nooooo fixing it.

((hugs))

I hate that we lost all the great posts. The old Random Thought Thread was a heckuva lotta fun. *smiles*

Actually aren't these farewell threads really like a memorial? I used to play TSO. Out in their forums, someone created (and later stickied) a memorial thread. You could sorta place a memorial in that thread for those beloved avatars that were no longer with us.

Things like... "Soluna of Jolly Pines September 2001, Gone but not forgotten." This kind of thing...

Your post reminded me think of that...

side note: I am soooooooooo sad about the other thread being gone.

To see all the good random thoughts just vanish is so sad! I think I had over 100 posts on there! So many of us put in so much time on that thread. It's heartbreaking...

Well.. my bosses took me out to lunch today... sort of even forced me. I didn't want to go, but now I'm glad I did. Chicken with Capers on Sketti. MMmMmmmm (called Chicken Piccata). WHOO.

I'm so full.

Went to the bank to deposit my check. All their puters were down. So, I had to go in to deposit them (which they usually charge me to use a teller, weird checking account I have)... but, it won't get credited until their puters are back up.

Got back to work and our puters were down. :o

Hey, I don't work for the bank, don't ask me why. Maybe all the rain. But they're up again now and I can finally... finally... check into my favorite little online world. (sigh)

Wish it didn't keep changing overnight on me! I MUST NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.

Speaking of internal and external, I was reading in a biology book the other day that your digestive system is technically outside of your body! It makes perfect sense (it's the only system that has openings to the outside on both ends and isn't internally sterile), but I'd never thought of it that way before. Kinda weird.

Ok you guys want a random thought??????

Well, Since at my job it is extremely SLOW lol we don't have much to do but kinda talk lol..... well someone was talking the other day and I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THIS.... but do you know after you eat Asparagus if effects the way you go pee??????I can't say much more than this.... LOL because its not gross but not sure if all want to hear me say it... but I just thought it was WIERD.....

ScarletHawke
11-12-2004, 09:57 PM
Yeah Mera, I've actually heard that before. However, I think you have to eat quite a lot of it before it really affects your urine.

On a similar but scarier note, there's a type of tropical fruit (forget the name of it offhand, maybe pomegranate or blood oranges?) that if you eat a lot of it, when you urinate it looks as if you're bleeding.

My high school biology teacher had an interesting way of describing it. He'd tell us to imagine that there was a shopping mall with a tunnel running through it. The tunnel connected to a street on one end and a subway on the other, but that you couldn't get into any of the stores in the mall by the tunnel. The only place the tunnel would lead is either to the subway or the street (both of which were outside the mall).

Then he'd ask if we'd say that the tunnel was part of the mall, or just a separate pathway that happened to go through the mall? Of course we'd say it was separate from the mall, and then he'd say that's what our digestive system was like.

And I just digested Pink's random thought. Interesting. Never looked at it that way! Oh by the way, and maybe this should go down to sexually speaking: there are many reasons why anal sex can be dangerous. The vagus nerve waunders around down by the rectum, and the stimulation can possibly cause abnormal responses in the heart, if I remember the lesson correctly.

Blondie~

Interesting that you mentioned the vagus nerve, not a lot of people seem to even know about it...

When my mother was 44, she had to get a pacemaker because of a malfunction with her vagus nerve.

She had gotten really sick, with flu-like symptoms and kept passing out... she was home alone and I had talked to her on the phone and she said she was sick but didn't tell me about the passing out part. I called awhile later to check on her and she did not answer the phone...

I went to her house and she had passed out while in the bathroom, fell into the metal part on the backtub and she wears glasses so it cut her face and this is the way I found her... I was horrified. I called an ambulance.

When she got to the emergency room, she passed out again and they had her on a heart monitor... her heart stopped beating... not good!

It was all related to the vagus nerve...

YIKES 1love. No fun. Bleach never likes my hair anyway. Phossy looks ReD!cKuLoUs as a blonde!

But, otherwise, it can't decide what it wants to be when it grows up. Red, black, brown, black w/lil blonde, red w/little black... it just doesn't know. In fact, phossy usually doesn't know... says, "Hey, bebbe, when you're out, pick me up two boxes o' the same color dye.. don't care what color. Something different." Last time, he and my son came home with "soft black" and inside I went.. "oh God..." but it looks mmmmmmkay. ;)

I've been thinking of going dark myself Phos!

Dan thinks I would look great with dark hair... isn't that nice of him?

I used to go darker every Fall, I would go dark brown or red... quit that when someone called me Peter Pumpkinhead! LOL That *bleepity bleeper*

Anyway... I get so tired of bleaching, I have been doing it for many years, probably about 15.

When I have went dark in the past, I got compliments but others who said "I like it better blonde" as if I asked for their opinions!

But, for some reason, people always seem to think you want to know what they think... I don't want to know unless it's a compliment or unless I ask!:p

Thank goodness I have my cosmetology license though...comes in handy at the beauty supply.

I have to do laundry and I don't wanna. Not at all. I live in an apartment building and it's such a royal pain in the keister to have to fight over a washing machine, and Sundays are the worst.

I think I've pretty much decided to just do it tomorrow after work -- less likelihood that I'll have to beat everyone else off with a stick. Last time I tried to do laundry on a weekend, it took me over four hours because I had to wait for everyone else's loads to finish. (I detest those jerks who simply dump out sopping wet loads to put their own in the machine, and I'd never do that to someone else.)

I also have to go grocery shopping, but that's not as problematic. What I really want to do is curl up with a hot chocolate and a good book, but since I'm out of groceries, I don't have any hot chocolate! I guess that means my path is set. :p

I'm at the office right now. Just had a $230,000 deal die an undignified death. Really coulda used that money about now, too. Really sucks!

Well, I'm gonna go watch the Packer game with my sweetie and his "demon child" (that's his nickname for her - she's 3 - that should say it all!) This morning when I left Jeremy was washing crayon off his apartment walls.

Sigh....so glad my kids are past that, but now they simply distroy even BIGGER things. The other day I came home and found white spray paint all over my lawn chairs and mailbox. grrrr...kids!

Trace...sorry to confuse you. I'm a bit of a techie, so I got all kinds of gadgets. I love my Palm phone, though. Does everything but the dishes! :) Here's what I'm talking about. It's practically a mini computer, address book, date book & phone in one: http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/7135-smartphone/

Here's how my day has gone so far:

Woke up late (10 am).
Took an hour more to wake up.
Fed daughter some cereal.
Got showered and dressed.
Washed some dishes.
Went shopping to buy stuff to fill a stocking for a needy child for my daughter's girl scout troop activity. Found a sensational bargain gift to buy each of my employees, so bought those while I was at it. They're cute Santa votive holders. About 4 inches tall. $1.00 each. When you've got 35 employees, you have to buy cheap, unfortunately. :(
Went to grocery store for 1 1/2 hours. Just unloaded everything. Have to sit down a few minutes before I can muster the energy to put the groceries away. :p
Then, will begin doing laundry that I didn't get to do yesterday because I was out of detergent.
Then, my final chore of the day -- I really want to clean off my kitchen table, which is piled high with mail I haven't gone through all week.

My best friend made turkey dinner today for me, herself and our other best friend and all their kids (4).

We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls...

CAN YOU SAY YUMMY?

Oh yeah... and they had pumpkin pie of which I did not partake in because I hate it! YUCK! BLECK! ETC!:p

One turkey dinner down, and two more to go!:)

anna nicole smith introducing kanye west was the funniest thing i've ever seen.

I'd believe that, Tracy....

She never was a smart one. Beauty doesn't always equal brains.

I'll give her credit, she did lose alot of weight. Of course, every time I watch a NASCAR Busch Series Race, I have to put up with the TRIM-SPA commercial of various natures, with her in it...

I think that's the price of Hollywood on her, though. I wonder what she was truly like *before* she was discovered...

Part of me has to believe, though...that somewhere under the surgeries, the drugs, the controversy.....there is a sweet woman in there.

RobsGirl

Well, according to her E! story she was living in some trailer park getting it on with a drug dealer while working in some chicken joint. . .then she decided to start stripping and that thousand year old gazillionaire found her and the rest, as they say, is history. . .bizarre, odd and Bobby Trendy-ized history.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say about A.N.S. at the very end of the awards show? I heard him - but now I can't remember what he said. That's the only part I saw - the very end - didn't get to see her trying to introduce... I'm sure whatever he said at the end had to do with THAT.... what was it?? hmm???

i know one joke was that she shouldn't of eaten so many of snoop dogg's $100 a piece brownies, lol, another was that so far her performance was the best of the night and the last one i heard was that she'd taken clay akins' virginity ..... by force. he was rippin her at every chance he got it seemed, lol.

She IS rather fascinating. Not unlike watching a train wreck at a five way intersection.

I'm not sure if Trimspa actually wittled her down, though, that's an awful lot of weight for a woman who loves fried chicken and macaroni and cheese to lose in such a short amount of time without the aid of exercise.

Anybody see that episode of her show where she went to camp and humilated the crappus out of herself?

You got me there, Amina. I do agree with you, though, with what you said.

As much as we call her an moron, I'm sure in some ways, one might consider her an idiot savant. Dumb as a brick in some ways, but genius in others. ANd in the genius part, as you and others have said...her business savvy is problem the genius.

And as Jay's Love said, look how much we're talking about her.

Molly, as for how much Trimspa helped her, I don't know. However, they are pushing that as the way she lost the weight. As I said....almost every commercial break during a Busch Series race, they push her in that commercial hard. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Braun Racing is sponsored by them.

It's a smaller one that we put up since that's where we spend alot of time in the family room. And then on xmas eve, we put our main xmas tree up in the living room. That stems from our German Heritage. We don't take it down, of course, till the end of January.

Of, as for putting the lights up? It's an ongoing joke between my father and I that we have to wait for the coldest day to put 'em up. *LOL*

I am sooooo tired and not only do I have to work today, but I have to go to a dinner meeting for work that is nearly the most boring event one could ever attend. The induction of new board members.....SHEESH!

However, we do get a free dinner, mileage reimbursement AND another entire day off for Thanksgiving, so we have 5 days off!:)

ever try Campho-phenique? tastes like garbage, but really works to kill the pain and help heal them.

early Christmas decorations really bother me too. i can kind of understand the city putting them up the week before thanksgiving, if they don't light them, so the workers don't have to do it in a rush on friday. but other than that, i refuse to even look at any of the stuff in the stores until after thanksgiving.

i really think thanksgiving should be in october, just because of making it easier for people to travel though.

i generally put up my tree the weekend after thanksgiving (because of the begining of lent) and take it down at epiphany.

Why is it that when the day of an appointment comes..that I have been waiting for, for over 2 months mind you...that there has to be an issue that comes up and they call and cancel! I know what you mean Foxy! I hate that when that happens. I also hate it when I actually make it inside the doctor's office and he has to suddenly leave. :( This is one reason I stopped going to OB/GYN's for my annual exam and only go to GYN's as they don't have to rush out and deliver babies. But, as an OB/GYN RN, I understand that babies won't wait, but it sure gets cold sitting on an exam table dressed in nothing but paper. :p

foxyeyes
11-23-2004, 10:37 AM
LoL yep Whitrose I totally sympathize with the OB/GYN situation...have encountered the joy of freezing my butt off with only paper drapped over my body as well waiting for him..~sigh~ that was exactly the type of appointment I had today as well....thank goodness I love Dr.Dan to pieces or I just might pick a basic GYN for this kinda stuff ;)

Whiterose, I had a urologist that referred to the "paper" as "an elaborate and large dinner napkin." That at least made me chuckle! haha!!

And Trace -- you should be here in Dallas.... There are not one -- but TWO radio stations -- one's an "oldies" kind of station and one is more mainstream - that have switched to all Christmas all the time - and HAVE been for like two weeks now. I think that someone waving their pickle at you in the middle of an airport could be kind of un-nerving....

If someone doesn't post a song dedication in my thread in the music section...Im gonna stomp my feet and pout, and I don't think anyone here wants THAT do they??? I mean, really, come on...who wants to ruin a perfectly good Tuesday evening??

My kids won't quit fighting and I am getting to the point where I really don't give a rat's behind whose fault it is...Im just going to yell at the whole lot of them and ground them all. How mean is that?

I can't believe I'd go ALL DAY without thinking about food. What the heck?

Can some of you, occasionally, remind me to EAT???

I thought, for the longest time, that the "not eating" thing was due to being depressed or something. Now, I know I'm not depressed... why does my body not tell me I need food?

Just an occasional YELL out to the phossmonster to tell her she needs to think about eating would be REALLY nice! :D

That turkey and bacon club at Timmy's is pretty good too, Suzie! ;)

I'm not craving turkey at all... or even poultry... lately I'm craving fish and seafood! Noooo idea why, but I just got back from the grocery store tonight and realized I'd bought:

- crab au gratin
- cooked deveined shrimp
- "seafood medley" (i.e. a bag of shrimp, scallops, cuttlefish, octopus, squid, mussels, and clams (de-shelled of course); I'm sure some of you are gagging but I've had it before and mixed with pasta or rice it's really good)
- salmon fillets

I've been on this fish kick for a couple of months now. Very odd. I don't know this is my body reacting to some weird nutrient deficiency or what, but at least I'm craving something healthy, I suppose...

Lots of Hugs Dan. It may be because the holiday for Thanksgiving is truely over. We have lots left to do to get ready for the next holidays. Sometimes, it always seems the holidays are too close together. We really need more time to give thanks for our blessings instead of just calling it turkey day and eating leftovers for a week.
Turkey has Triptophane which makes us a bit sleepy and lackadaisical. We should jump right into some Chili and cornbread. and perk up. Or cinnamon and cloves to get the smells of the coming yule festivities. Anyway, we do need to stir ourselves up and put some happiness into that empty place.

Jerry...

I tend to like Half Life 2....I usually like First Person Shooter games, and this one is definetly that. Nothing like playing in the dark when a head-crab zombie jumps out at ya...

It cost me around 54 dollars when I bought it. Of course, you get the game (which is what I consider a long game and beautiful graphics), you get Counterstrike: Source (A multiplayer component) and if you download through Steam, you can get Half Life 2 Multiplayer Death Match...

To get the beautiful graphics, you do have to have a good rig. A good graphics card, one that supports DirextX 9...fast processor and in my opinion, around a gig of memory. 512 meg will work, but I would lean on the side of one gig...

I've been playing it off and on for around two weeks. I split time between it and my racing simulation game...

But it is a well designed and beautiful game...and there are some "physics puzzles" that you get to play with...like to get to one area, you have to pick up bricks and make a ramp by making a board tilt the other way (like a see-saw)....it can be a thinking game as well, as you can tell...

Oh I just gotta tell this one...

Some of ya'll may remember back around February/March of this year I had a slight "incident" involving my car going straight on into a curb with the right front part of my suspension at about 25 or so...

No body damage, but did a number on my right front suspension including beating the snot out of the right front aluminum wheel...destroyed the bead on it (amazingly, the tire was still up.)

Well, for the past months since then I've been riding on three aluminum wheels and one steel wheel. Getting three steel wheels is also cheaper than buying one aluminum wheel...so...I went and got three steel's....and bought some new tires this weekend...

Well, I needed some hubcap wheel covers to go along with these steel wheels and bought them on Saturday too. In the process of putting them on, my loving dad accidently broke one of the tabs off. Now, we figured "No big Deal!" it was holding and felt tight against the wheel...

So, I'm driving home today and stopped at Giant Eagle Supermarket. Did my business and then left. On the way out, I hit some plastic. I was thinking it was just a plastic container...that which like nacho chips w/ cheese come in or stuff like that....

I stop for gas....pay and go back to my car and notice one hubcap is missing...

I put two and two together....

Yes folks, I win the Darwin Award for today as I RAN OVER MY OWN DANG HUBCAP! *LOL*

That doesn't quite get you the Darwin Award, Dan. You didn't die because of it.

Now if you'd run over your own hubcap, skidded out of control, and fatally crashed through the plate-glass window of the same place where you originally bought it... that would qualify as a Darwin Award. ;)

So glad you didn't win it after all! :p

Got it -- and thanks -- you're a sweetie pie... When I have more time I'll write again -- just been buried here at the office (you mean they expect me to WORK while I'm here?? hehe....)

More later....

another major hurdle overcome :D

i finally finished cleaning out/reorganizing my shed!!! now i just have to pick up a few things the dogs scattered all over my back yard (chunks of 2x4 and such, they will chew on ANYTHING)

then all i have left outside is a few things in my driveway that i've been working on and need to put away. have more to put in my garage, and things to organize and sort through in there, but i am actually making progress. seems like i'm always running out of day before the end of my projects/chores are anywhere close to being done.

One more thing...I hate Mondays more than I hate liver and onions, I SWEAR! I would almost rather participate in Fear Factor than get out of bed on Monday morning.

Sooooo...keeping in mind it is the start of a new week, lets make this a good one? We are getting close to Christmas...a joyous season. Lets forgive and forget...and start this week fresh. Mmmmmkay?
((hugs))

I made brownies last night and topped it with Blue Bell French Vanilla ice cream, then some chocolate syrup! HMMMM boy did I over load. :D Little 3 yr. old Amber and I just lapped it up!

I can't even look at a brownie today...

Oh! Have you tried that new candy bar, "Take 5"?

We were in the grocery store on Saturday and they were handing out samples - I bought 2 right away!

They have pretzels, peanuts, peanut butter & caramel all covered in Hershey's chocolate. As far as I'm concerned, it's the perfect candy bar! Soooo yummy!!
