Polly 11-17-2004, 05:06 PM Hey, I just wanted to check in with you all! I miss you so much! My computer crashed, it looks like it's going to be a long time before it's back up, and I don't have time to mess with it.
The BIG NEWS...remember that bar Robin and I met at five years ago? It's five minutes from where we live. My childhood friend's mother INHERITED IT and is approaching us to redecorate and run it!!! Isn't that a hoot? We have been talking non-stop about it for 3 weeks now, thinking of all kinds of ideas. It'll be a restaurant/bar, in the 30's style, with silver screen movies showing at the end of the room and swing style music in the background. We'll have pics on the walls of when "Peach Grove" (the area it is in) was undeveloped and all the old families that pioneered that area. We are SO EXCITED!!! :D
I'm also collecting items for a platoon of soldiers in Iraq, and it's gotten kind of crazy. Have to get everything together by 11/23. I have been aching to get on here, but haven't been near a computer (on my mom's tonight). Don't forget me...I'll be back, hopefully with really good news about the progression of our new endeavor. Lots of work to be done there, and a few small miracles.
Love ya!:)
PinkCat 11-17-2004, 05:50 PM Wow, Polly! That sounds really cool! I wish I lived closer so I could come check out the bar after you've worked your magic on it.
Best of luck! :D
MerAlove23 11-17-2004, 06:13 PM Welcome Back Polly!!! We certianly missed you!!!! Congrads on the new place... If I lived there I would totally go !!!!

MrsJonesolet 11-17-2004, 11:51 PM hey Polly I know you don't know me.......I've only just started posting here but I've been reading posts for a year or more......so I have gotten to know you,in a sense and I have noticed that you haven't been around ......it's not quite the same without you.
Thats very cool about the restaurant/bar opportunity :) I used to own a 1950's diner and I had a blast decorating it..... but I have to say...the running it part wasn't much fun at all ...it's a very stressful business I think.
I hope it's a better experience for you guys :)
take care
GoldieCat 11-18-2004, 08:52 AM That is amazing news Polly! I was just wondering where you were the other day, and wow, what a wonderful twist that this is THAT bar, and it could be the entrepreneurial opportunity you've been waiting for. That is sooo cool.

1love 11-20-2004, 06:01 AM Congratulations to you and Robin, Polly! We had just been asking about you over in chit chat! Good to see you!:)
Bella 11-20-2004, 08:14 AM Sounds great Polly!
Maybe you could convince the owner you need a computer with internet access in the bar, to effectively run it well, and kill two birds with one stone!
:D
whiterose 11-20-2004, 08:21 AM Wow Polly! That bar sounds like a terrific opportunity for you. How wonderful. :)
Polly 11-28-2004, 09:50 AM Well, I'm back...for now! Don't know how long the blasted computer will last this time. My son just got it up and running yesterday after reinstalling Windows (AGAIN!) and trying to get rid of more junk that has affixed itself.
The bar thing is on hold. My friend's mom, Carlene, is being insane about it. She wants us to pay $22 per square foot PLUS ten percent of the profits every month. This isn't NEW YORK CITY! This is a little dive in the middle of nowhere! This woman is used to dealing in retail Mall stores, and is trying to set this up the same way. She is nuts. We are very disappointed. I'm trying to get my accountant to talk some sense into her, but haven't heard from either of them all week. As it stands right now, there's no deal to be made. If she doesn't move quickly though, and let us get it up and running and her get the Hell out of the way, she's going to lose her zoning, and it'll go back to residential. That building is not worth anything as a residential building.
We are bummed, but we haven't given up.
Meanwhile, I'm still doing my cleaning gig, and Robin is still doing the Handyman thing. He needs more business, and we've been advertising all over the place.
I'll go read what y'all have been up to now! :)
