The Night is My Lover
Alone, I lie...
Against these cold satin sheets;
Covered with a blanket of decayed roses.
Gray walls echo with solitude.
How long has it been
Since friends and loved ones cried for me...
Or I for them?
Vague memories
Of laughter... and light.
The warmth of human touch,
A distant dream...
All but forgotten.
Immortality...
Seductive promises in the night;
Mysterious lover promising
Power... adventure... ecstasy
Eternity!
An eternity...
Of seeing loved ones come and go;
Of never feeling the sun upon my face,
Or seeing the flowers open in the morning;
These things forgotten in that moment of passion.
Jealous lover...
Keeping me close;
Whispering my name in the wind,
Reminding me that
The Night is my only lover,
Now...
And forever....

Promises
Darkest night...
Silent, yet tingling with the electricity of anticipation...
My spirit touches yours.
A voice echoes through your mind,
Haunting you.
Dark eyes, yet unseen, pierce your soul...
Exposing dark desires.
Blood red moon,
Calling out to the chosen one;
You feel my presence.
Feel my words caressing you.
Torn between fear and desire,
Knowing the choice is yours.
Moonlight gleaming,
Promises to be kept.
Feel my breath upon your skin...
Your sweetness and innocence
Warm this cold and lonely heart.
Loyalty rewarded...
"Did I not say that I would come for you?"

Thanks Allen. I think I was just going through a phase at the time since I had never written anything before, or since except for one little thing I did for a poetry contest that I needed to participate in to get a bonus for a game that I play and some various random thoughts put into form for a web page I had at the time.
Dark poetry was the thing to do in the internet goth circles so I had figured I'd try my hand at it, but I do think I put a certain amount of feeling into them, especially "Promises" which was my first attempt. I was strongly influenced by another poem that I had come across on the web and really liked called "Night's Children" by someone called Zana. "Promises" was somewhat of a tribute or sequel to that piece of work in addition to my reflections on certain interactions that I had had at the time.
Thinking back, I feel the "The Night is My Lover" was influenced by a Type O Negative song called "Suspended in Dusk" which I think was much better suited to be a piece of poetry than a song because it was way too slow.
Sometimes I really do think the internet fries your brain because after playing too much internet game for the last several years, I can't seem to hold the concentration to do anything really creative any more.

I usually get "inspired" by some personal incident.
By the way I loved the poems, reminds me of some Evanescence lyrics.
