Show On YM/OW relationshipsMerAlove23 12-02-2004, 04:54 AM I believe Tomorrow 12/3 at 10pm there will be a show called Wanted: Younger Men on Discovery Health Channel..... thought you may wanna know :) whiterose 12-02-2004, 05:43 AM I don't get that channel here. Wish I did. Here's a link to their website with only a little bit of info on the episode: DISCOVERY HEALTH CHANNEL (http://health.discovery.com/schedule/episode.jsp?episode=0&cpi=106713&gid=0&channel=DHC) greeneyedgirl 12-02-2004, 06:47 AM "growing phenomenon of older women pursuing young men" that quote kinda rubs me the wrong way. pursuing??? most of us RAN Science Goddess 12-02-2004, 08:26 AM Originally posted by greeneyedgirl "growing phenomenon of older women pursuing young men" that quote kinda rubs me the wrong way. pursuing??? most of us RAN You know the media - tactful as always. I did not pursue Ross (initially). I LET him pursue me. ;) greeneyedgirl 12-02-2004, 09:32 AM WOW OH WOW KELLEY ! :D !!!! whiterose 12-02-2004, 09:47 AM I wondered why you were talking the other day about being on national tv. Wow. How cool, Kelley! Please let us know when it will be aired. Science Goddess 12-02-2004, 11:02 AM Mrs. HH ~ What's the date of the big event? Sorry, I've lost track. Only wondering to see if we might be in Vegas at the same time. :) greeneyedgirl 12-02-2004, 11:08 AM Originally posted by MerAlove23 I believe Tomorrow 12/3 at 10pm there will be a show called Wanted: Younger Men on Discovery Health Channel..... thought you may wanna know :) i can't find a listing for it :( Science Goddess 12-02-2004, 11:39 AM I just discovered that I don't get that channel. :( I only have the slightly-above-basic cable package and it's on channel 220 here on Comcast. GEG, go to your cable provider's website. That's what I did. Maybe you can find it there. Lynn 12-02-2004, 11:48 AM Didn't Oprah, or maybe it was Montel (sp?) that had a show on OW/YM? I only caught the tail end of it at the time, which was last spring I believe. greeneyedgirl 12-02-2004, 12:11 PM Originally posted by Science Goddess I just discovered that I don't get that channel. :( I only have the slightly-above-basic cable package and it's on channel 220 here on Comcast. We had originally thought about doing a December trip but it's now been postponed due to Ross' promotion at work. Promotion = a good thing. Postponed hedonism = bummer. We're probably postponed until the NASCAR race at the Speedway in mid-March. (Course, we've been 'joking' about getting hitched while we're there.) MerAlove23 12-02-2004, 05:46 PM its on 226 here on comcast... you do have to have more than a basic package to get it ... I love that channel!! The title kinda disturbed me also... but we'll see i'm sure I'll fall asleep way before it starts LOL Patricia 12-02-2004, 07:58 PM Thanks for the tip, Mer! It is on at 7 and 10 tonight here in California. I will try to catch the 7 show, but, yes, ER is quite a challenger. ER will rerun the show, so I will watch the Discovery show. I agree, GEG, that the word "pursue" is a warning sign, but then they go on to say: "Keeping the company of someone younger isn't just for men anymore!" That kind of makes us seem less villainous, but we won't know until we see it what the underlying message really is. Kristin 12-02-2004, 11:06 PM Jerry - fill us in! How is it? Was it positive? I don't get the channel either and inquiring mind want to know!! Patricia 12-03-2004, 01:14 AM Well, there was something else on my Discovery channel, so I also will have to wait for a report by someone here who saw it. Joe 12-03-2004, 10:43 AM Originally posted by Lynn Didn't Oprah, or maybe it was Montel (sp?) that had a show on OW/YM? I only caught the tail end of it at the time, which was last spring I believe. Lynn, my lady Peachy and I did it. Here is the link if you missed it: http://www.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200310/tows_past_20031001.jhtml Can't wait to go on again! BTW, Peachy had a phone interview with Ladies Home Journal last week! :) So Jerr, what happened on that tv show brutha'? Joe 12-03-2004, 11:16 AM THAT WAS AN AWESOME SUMMARY BRUTHA' JERR!!! THANKS A LOT!!! :D I think the dude in the third couple segment is an idiot! Oh well, to each his own I guess. Maybe she needs someone even younger or older than her, both with maturity! :D Thanks again bro! whiterose 12-03-2004, 11:29 AM Interesting that they decided to begin the show talking about the "cougar concept", yet, it sounds like in each of those scenarios, they women were the ones who were pursued? I hate it that they may have mislead people. I wish they would have focused more emphasis on the fact that most of us OW in committed relationships with YM were actually pursued by the man. Too bad I don't get that channel in my area. I would loved to have seen it. If anyone taped it, I'd be happy to pay to have a copy made and shipped to me. Bella 12-03-2004, 11:49 AM Home for lunch.... Didn't see the show, but from Jerr's recap, something tickles my memory buds. Ok old-time ageless members, put on your thinking caps. That last scenario sounds seriously like someone who used to post. Guy in his 20's, moved from CA to Virginia to a military base, and was getting snubs and looks for the first time in her relationship. Ring any bells? I think she was a frequent poster for a while, but darned if I can think of who. Wouldn't that be neat if it was another Ageless alumni? Science Goddess 12-03-2004, 05:15 PM Originally posted by Jlojsuperman But it seemed like they wanted to make it seem all like ohhhhh those older women being naughty. Who? Us?? :D Joe 12-03-2004, 06:40 PM Originally posted by Jlojsuperman But it seemed like they wanted to make it seem all like ohhhhh those older women being naughty. ughh.. lol Jerrwanted: kitKat Ahhh. . . but ya' know brutha', you and I both know that "they" are naughty! :D Jerrnaughty101class!!! Jo-Admin 12-03-2004, 07:51 PM BELLA!!! That is exactly what I thought when I read that. I remember that whole scenario so clearly, but for the life of me I cannot remember her name. :( Anyhow, I just wanted to say your remembering correctly, because I remember too. and JERR! Awesome recap of the whole thing. Did you keep a notes while you were watching or something? I wish I could have seen the show, but having you report on it was like the very next best thing. ((hugs)) Patricia 12-03-2004, 08:22 PM Bella, that sounds like Betzguido. Jerry, was she blonde and was he dark and Italian-looking? betzguido 12-04-2004, 09:12 AM Howdy to my old pals here, it's been forever since I've posted, I know. My company has somehow morphed from a web design firm to an agency for musicians, I rep and manage a few fantastic celebs and am on the road a lot these days! I couldn't resist popping in here today and checking the reaction from y'all to the recent documentary on Discovery Health....seems as though those that saw it, felt the same way I did :-) I was approached almost 2 years ago by Omni Films to be a subject in their film. I was an active member here at the time, and how they contacted me. I agreed, thinking it would just be an interview....and wanting to make a positive public statement about age-gap relationships, especially after moving to Virginia, where we have experienced so much prejudice! The film project was put on hold for a year, I forgot all about it....then they contacted me again last year. The producer, director and film crew flew here from Canada and set up camp for 3 days! I sure didn't expect that! I was a little put out that so much of our everyday reality, was actually set-up for a good shoot, like the rental of a convertible (our first car together, but long dead now) A kiss or a dance, that had to be done over and over...and so on. But overall, it was a lot of fun.....and although we were very nervous about the films debut, I think we came off ok. I was totally appalled at the beginning of the show, though....cougars? I've never heard that term before, and thought, ohmygawd, my mother-in-law is gonna see that! All I could see was that I looked huge on camera, and all teeth....ugh! I swear, .....they say the camera adds 10 pounds, I beg to differ....20 was more like it! So I watched it again at 1:00 am, and actually heard what I said..... I liked it....and the crew did a great job editing it so the goofy rambling stuff I said....was cut :-) I made my statement and am proud that I did. Ron and I have been together 7 years now and married for 6. We still adore each other, and have a fantastic relationship of mutual respect, friendship and total passion. When people ask me how this marriage works, what's my secret, etc....I usually say that we spend a lot of time apart....so we never get sick of each other! :-) Ron travels constantly for the military (and for the past 6 months, has been in the Persian Gulf) I travel quite a bit as well.....so everytime we are together....it's another honeymoon! But I think what also makes it work is our friendship and compatibility. Most people can't believe or even understand that a woman my age would have anything in common with someone 20 years younger....but we do....and it just keeps getting better! I hear the show will air again in Jan....so if ya missed it, try and catch it then.....it's an important documentary for us age-gappers and brings our type of relationships into the light and shows the nay-sayers....that we are just like everyone else...only happier :-) Betz Patricia 12-04-2004, 10:39 AM Betz!!! It is great to "see" you again. I am glad that things are going well for you and Ron in both your business and personal lives. You and Ron are both gorgeous. I am sure that you looked great in the film. I hope that you will still pop in sometimes to share your wit and your wisdom with us again. Patricia betzguido 12-04-2004, 11:30 AM Hi Patricia! How goes it? Long time, eh? I just returned from a four month stay in good ol' Cally....next time I'm home, we'll have to get together..... I was disappointed that they cut out several important things I said in the film....one was that I spoke highly of agelesslove, how supportive and caring the women here had been to me. And what a great forum this is for those of us that are in age-gap relationships....I know there are several forums out there....but so far, this has to be one of the best! I was also disapponted that they cut out the part where I talked about what I do for a living....a little free advertising can go a long way! :D Also, Ron and I both stated clearly how unkind the locals have been here, but that was cut as well....probably a good thing, or I'm, sure I would have had the "Shrek" lynching squad on my doorstep the next day! However, I did get a little revenge on some of the nasty neighbors...inadvertenly.....while I was gone, I rented out my house to 2 of my assistants (they act as security when my artists are in town) Both young gorgeous men, who are also very sweet and were kind and helpful to any neighbor in need. When I returned, they stayed on for another month....which I'm sure had the neighbors lips a-flappin' about that "horrid cougar" down the road! hahahaha! Ah vel, no changing their minds I'm sure, people will think what they want.....at least I got to rub it in a bit ;) So what have you been up to these daze? betzguido 12-05-2004, 12:00 AM Congrats! I wish you all the best! Don't panic about the camera adding size, some do look heavier on film, some don't. But I've always known that I was never photogenic, and even in my skinny days....I looked 10 pounds heavier. I told no one when the show was to air, I wanted to see it first....if they sliced n' diced up our interview and made us look bad....then I would take the secret to my grave :-) But many of my friends did happen to catch the show and all responses were positive..... so far. Relaxing is the hardest part, I recommend a good martini or 2 before you go on :D Have fun with it and don't take it too seriously...even if you blow it...no one will remember by next week! That's show biz for ya! But do have someone tape it or get the tape from the show (they usually send them anyway) And watch it several times.....the first time all you will be able to see are any flaws you think you may have....but after a few times, you can see it in an unbiased way, like watching a stranger...yet interested in what they have to say. Good luck...and relax  Betz Jo-Admin 12-05-2004, 05:18 PM Betz...Its so great to hear from you and how wonderful your company is doing! ((HUGS)) I remember seeing the pictures of you and your husband, and you are both gorgeous, and although I didn't get to see the show I know you must have looked beautiful!!!! And now your out hobknobbing with the celebrities!!!! WOW! Im just so excited that you dropped by, and I hope you will be able to check in once in a while even though your busy!! Those meanies...cutting out where you mentioned our site! DARN! lol Kelley, I now expect you to somehow fit the word Ageless into your wedding vows!!! lol |
