Good morning,
I haven't forgotten this wonderful place -- I've just been too busy to post here lately.
Dave and I have been packing. We think we have the house...as always there is a snag and the appraiser now says it's worth less than they are charging so they have to drop their price or we can't buy it. I'm a bit panicked as we've given notice here and are in the heat of packing to move December 23rd! This is going to give me an ulcer yet.
We have also been working hard on dog rescue. It has done wonders for our depression. I usually crash with Season Affective Disorder this time of year and this is the first time in many years that I don't really feel it. My fibro is also much much better because I don't have time to focus on it, I guess. Dave's chronic depression is so much better you'd never know it was the same guy who cried all the time. He's working as a volunteer at the New Haven Animal Shelter as well as doing the transport runs and is feeling terrirific! Woo hoo!
We have adopted dogs -- so we had better get that house! Dave rescued Alex when he saw him listed at a kill shelter in West Virginia. He was blind and terrified. A woman pulled him out of the shelter and got his eyes treated. We found he does have some vision, not that it would have mattered. Dave has applied to adopt him and is going to Baltimore next weekend to meet him. He will join us in Connecticut after the first of the year.

Yesterday I was contacting rescues in Georgia trying to get two special needs dogs out of the pound before they were killed. They are a deaf/blind senior co*cker spaniel and his support system, a little pointer mix. No one wanted them...no one had the space....no one wanted an old deaf/blind dog... They were set to die yesterday. I had a fit of madness and said I'd take them. I have no house, but now I have 2 dogs who need a home ASAP. So I've been writing to the rescues trying to get them some foster care until we move in.
I have dubbed them Butch and Sundance. Sundance is the little golden spaniel and Butch is his loyal friend and helper. If anyone needed a Hole-in-the-Wall to hide in it is these two.

hese guys are running from the law. We want to become their Hole-in-the-Wall -- their place of refuge.
So that's what I've been doing. Life is wonderful. The more we have done for the dogs the better we have felt. When you work with those who have no hope -- human or animal it puts what's going on in your life in perspective.
Hope everyone had a Wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Jane
