Where to meet others

I've looked a bit around the site and didn't find a one thread source for meeting folks so thought I'd start this thread.

There a lot of on line places like Everquest that charge a fee I'm sure everyone has heard about as well as the new There (http://there.com/). In There you create a person and interact with others around the world for a fee (trail is free tho) and earn there bucks by hosting parties and designing things.

For free there's Nation States (http://www.nationstates.net) where you build your own country and interact with others from around the world on forum boards (like this one) as your country evolves and joins and or wars with other states. Since I started there my population has gone up from 5 million to 10 million and people are happy. No revolt yet! :)

Also for free is Runescape (http://www.runescape.com). The main game there is a huge world of fancy where your Avatar learns skills, solves puzzles, and defeats monsters. Also on the site are other games such as chess and what not.
When I grabbed the link there were currently 66,000 people playing from all over the world.

If your looking for intrests forums you can try Yahho Groups, MSN Groups, GeoCities, or our own host vBulletin, they have a listing of all their forums and that's how I found the Movie forum I'm also a member of.

IN REAL LIFE:

In most towns you can take an art class or join a book reading club...but my fave place to meet new people are re-creation socities like The SCA (http://sca.org/) .

The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 18 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Our "royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor members for their contributions to the group.

There are other kinds of re-creationst out there, like the Civil War buffs in the South and the Port Royal Priviteers (http://www.portroyalprivateers.org/) who re-create the priate days.

What's great about these organzations is that they are non-judgemental, a great equalizer (everyone is dressed up funny) and you learn all sorts of intresting and fun things while your at it!

I hope other people post some places and ideas, and that you enjoy the ones I've posted.

I meet my ym on dating sites, they click on me, makes it easy, and if I like what I see, I click back. I've met alot of nice guys that way, in fact, I'm still dating 3 from different dating sites. If you want to check out one I use alot, it's HotorNot.com. It has alot of YM on it, great site for that. I get around 30 replies each day in my email box, mostly from younger men 18-26. You can narrow it down, click on your location at the top for guys in your area, and then you can click on guys you want to meet. The ones that have the red star or stars in the left hand corner above their profiles you can write to without having to become a member, otherwise, you can't unless you are a member.
