I got frustrated with MSN being down the other day and tried to find a suitable replacement for using the webcam...and in doing so, avoided paying any fees, plus I don't need to use java or an html page or ftp server!
I know a lot of us on Ageless are connected through webcams and especially those couples in long distance relationships...like I am. I'm really happy with it and what's best is that my guy can open it in Media Player and watch me chew my gum full screen *yay* and he even put it to his television to show his mother haha
The features include blocking users and allowing users, mointoring use and you can even broadcast existing streaming video during the live broadcast.
hehe maybe insert some Ageless commercials? ;)
Anyhow, if you're looking for an alternative to MSN without java, I really suggest clicking the above link and giving it a try. If you have a firewall you may have to add access to a virtual http server like I did.
Oh, and the best part for me, since I have my cam on 24/7 is that he doesn't have to sit around and wait for me to send an MSN invitation to use it. He just enters the URL of the cam into Media Player and has access at will.
The fun part for me is that I've hooked it up to my camcorder and place it in a idifferent location than my webcam, which I am still able to use on MSN with other friends and family...or anyplace I guess.
Oh, and for anybody who ever wants to attempt to use their camcorder as a webcam, for my Sony TRV anyhow you just remove the tape so it won't shut off. You can turn off the red 'recording" indicator light and the demo mode that cycles through the features too.
