I just found this website, entitled "The Rebuttal From Uranus", that totally expresses how I felt after reading Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus . There is a ton of stuff here... she takes the chapters apart one by one! This sums it up:
"Despite its promotional hype, at its very core it is a sexist, patronizing, male-centered invective which does little more than perpetuate long-held negative gender stereotypes. "
I enjoyed this read (the website, not the book, haha). The Rebuttal From Uranus (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/women_rebuttal_from_uranus/welcome.htm)

Thanks for posting that link, PinkCat. Unbelievable (the book, that is). I had to stop reading the website cause I was getting so mad. What an idiot. I'd love him to try and figure out me and my boyfriend - he'd probably say we are dysfunctional and that's why we don't fit his stereotypes. Geesh.
I'd love to read that rebuttal. I've always thought John Gray was an idiot...he used to be married to "Dr." Barbara DeAngelis, and I figured if two PhD psychologists can't figure out how to make a marriage work, they sure shouldn't be handing out relationship advice.

I don't read self-help books so I don't really know much about John Gray, but from what I've heard his theories are pretty lame.
I did know "Dr." John Gray doesn't have a PhD from anything resembling an accredited university, never did an actual study, never had a psychological or academic paper published, and has already gone through at least two divorces that I know of.
Now I'm reading this rebuttal, and as I already suspected, I can see I haven't missed much. :p
Can someone explain to me why people keep going back to the so-called relationship "experts" who keep getting divorced? I mean, isn't that like going back to a mechanic who can't change his own tires?

These two so-call PH.D's got their doctorates from a California paper mill. They did not really work for their accolades. I can't stand him.... Never have!

Thanks Pinkcat...I've always found his ideas more applicable to very specific relationship models, which to me seem outdated.

Report on John Gray's Personal Success Workshop. (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/women_rebuttal_from_uranus/tmbomb.htm)
Here's a peek:
Mr. Gray stated he believed in astrology, reincarnation, white and black magic, spirits, possessions, and his ability to heal mental and physical ailments. He went so far to suggest that he could cure MS, brain tumors and cancer. He then told us he was looking forward to doing some of this healing on this week-end.
...and believe it or not, it actually gets scarier from there.

A excellent book by John Gray is:
"How to get what you want and want what you have"
