What's going on?

There's 100 visitors on, but only 8 members and more than half the "guests" are on the same thread??

Also, what caused 162 people to suddenly drop by on 2/18? Was something on tv?

Sometimes what you see listed as "Guests" are really bots here scoping out the functionality of the site. Dan could explain it much better than me.

We had the famous 'googlebots' at one of the forums I co-admined, and it caused quite a stir among the members at first. The bots would go through the forum, thread by thread, 'reading' everything. Later, if you did a google search on your user name, you could sometimes find it on the first page with a link to the boards.

Bots, searching and scanning... reading what we've written...

Okay, does anyone else think that sounds funny, kind of... Orwellian? And freaky? Heehee!! Bots!

Yeah, I figured out recently that if I googled my name that it showed up on Google with a link to Ageless. I'm not very happy about that because it's a name I use other places, but then again, it's the internet, and nothing is sacred.
