Bots and missing posts

There was a post somewhere about this site being inundated with "bots" reading our posts.

1) What are/were they doing here?

2) Do they have anything to do with myself and others posts being removed?

3) My posts to keep abortion legal have been removed. What are some other posts that have been deleted?

Bots are little "spiders" that crawl along webpages...

They check out all the different links. Basically what it is doing, is sort of "archiving" the site for like search engines. That's why, say if you search for my user name, you would get alot of hits in return with some search engines.

As far as posts being removed, no, it has nothing to do with that. I DO know on Friday night the Ageless server went down for a little bit. Not very long. However, when it came back up, there were posts missing from perhaps an hour to hour and a half time span.

The server could of crashed and the hosting company used a backup, or it might of been something else...

However, during that time period on Friday night...a group of posts WERE lost.

Is Ageless able to do anything about the posts that were stolen by that wierd site? I went there, and nearly all of the threads were copied from here verbatim.

There are posts under the user name hazelett that are direct copies of things I'd posted, even ones talking about David by name. The loser didn't even bother to change the names in all the posts he copied, the username might be swadley, or whatever, but the response to the post states Peachy, for instance.

I'm really upset about this, I don't know if Rob has any knowledge of it, but I don't like seeing my words used on a site I didn't put them on.

Some of the things posted I'm pretty sure were from things that were modded, so he managed to either copy them before they'd been modded, or he managed to hack into admin files.

The thread that was such a nasty thread about vym is there in it's entire glory.

Another thing to keep in mind about some missing posts is that if a member chooses to delete their posts, and their post was the first post in a thread, they will delete the entire thread. So, sometimes that's another reason why your post count may have gone done. Someone may have chosen to delete their posts, and as a result, entire threads can be deleted if they were the OP on the thread.

There's another site, that has stolen nearly its whole content from ageless, and sloppily changed usernames.

For those of you who have accessed it, are you still able to get in? For the past two days I just get to a page that says the board is unavailable because it was hacked on Friday.

got a back door, I've been banned once, but I reregistered and slammed them again.

When you were banned, were you notified? I expected to be banned, but wasn't. At least far as I know right now.

The only thing he changed was the lead in page, if you go in through a topic, everything is still there, in all it's glory.

Just changed to guest, and the registration was invalid. I expect my ip to be banned next.

This might be a good time to remind everyone: there is no privacy online. Also, anything and everything you have EVER said on a board or in a chatroom can be retrieved through your computer i.d.. Can't remember what they call them, but every computer has a series of numbers that identify the computer wherever it goes; where the computer has gone can be traced using those numbers; and what you have seen or said can be retrieved.

I can still get in through the backdoor. Banned, tho.

My signature line (~phos) is still in ALL my renamed posts, tho. How original. :rolleyes:

I wonder if it isn't a disgruntled former ageless member, too... but I doubt its anyone from PONS as their site was hacked and combined at this one, too. :(

It's the Bizarro version of Ageless, an imperfect duplicate of this forum.

I am aware that this has happened, and I am trying to do what I can do; however, I don't think that is much.

The posts here are not copyrighted, this site is originating from Belize.....and whatever other complications. I have talked with Rob about it. He says that sometimes sites will "rip" other more active and well-known sites in order to come up in search engines and to gain more traffic for their own sites. For example, the site we are talking about is affliated with a dating site.

Im not sure what to think at this point, and believe me when I tell you Dan and I worked for a few hours the other night looking into this issue and another issue.

I know definitely it does not have to do with any sites that we are familiar with.....Maria and I even talked via email, and she did give me a suggestion of a member we both dealt with in the past who could possibly be involved with this. I do not believe her site has been ripped....but rather they have ripped threads from this site that are older, back when Maria was still a member.

This morning he seemed to be well and truly gone. Whether that means for good, I don't know, but his site is gone.

Not some lamo message about being hacked gone, but just plain not found.

I had emailed him, and told him that ageless was copyrighted, that by stealing our posts, he was stealing copyrighted material, and yadayada.

That and having to continually clean off all the posts saying what an idiot he was from all the angry Ageleless peoples must have gotten old.

And we all know what a bunch of angry Ageless peoples can do!

So, what is the site address so that we can check it out? I would like to know if I show up anywhere. Probably not, since I don't post much anymore. But, I would like to check.
