yellowrose 02-28-2005, 09:52 PM Hi everyone! I am home from the hospital and I really missed you all.
I am still in emotional shock that I got so sick so fast... or sort of fast. I looked over my chart at the hospital today and it really made me feel strange to see what happened. If my daughter had not been here, there is NO doubt that I would not be alive today. Funny... I was doing HER a favor by letting her stay with me and she ended up saving my life.
For the "nurses", I made notes of what happened and will PM you if you are interested. At one point my Blood pressure was like 48 over... I THINK... 20 something. The ICU nurse said that they do not scare easily but they were extremely worried that I would not make it. I was in the Intensive care unit from Monday night until Thursday night. Then they put me the the critical care ward which is usually for heart patients. I had more doctors than M & M's have colors.
This is was kind of a big deal for me because I have never been sick enough for the hospital before in my life. Anyway... thank you from the bottom of my heart for your well wishes and prayers.
My youngest daughter is coming in at 2 AM TONIGHT on a bus from San Antonio. She is bringing my little Amber (age 3).... This will be the best welcome home present I could get. She has to transfer buses in Dallas at around midnight tonight so keep her safety in your thoughts as well.
So I guess I got from this that none of us are sure of tomorrow, so we need continue the hugs and caring about each other. All I can say is ... THANKS... very much.
Barbara :)

Barbara,
I'd love to hear the details if you ever have the energy to tell the story. But not now. Now you rest. PM me when/if you feel better.

It is so good to hear that you're home and on your way to recovery. It sounds like you had a bit of a scary experience.
Like SH said, your daughter is there because it was meant to be. For both of you.
Feel better as soon as you can, sweetie.

BearsAngel 03-01-2005, 02:36 PM Welcome back. It is terrifying how quickly you can become desperately ill. What's important now is that you get better quickly. I think it's rather nice that your daughter went from squatter to guest. I know relationships can be stressed with older children. Maybe this will help to bring the two of you closer together.
Give that baby a big hug and go and do something FUN!

Softsong 03-02-2005, 12:56 AM Welcome back Barbara. Glad you are feeling better! We missed you!
This is such wonderful news. God bless you YR, as he has already done with the wonderful friends and family you have.
yellowrose 03-03-2005, 10:15 PM Thank you every one... (love the attention!!)
It was so weird in ICU. I kept having conversations with invisible people. :D They gave me a IV with something in it that makes your veins feel like someone is literally taking a blow-torch to them. I was screaming bloody murder and threatening to rip the needles out if they did not come and do something. I mean that crapola was awful. They put a port in that cause the medicine to travel further and not burn my veins. I got loads of potassium. I had dry heaves for 4 days also. Enough to say that I was not NICE. :p
After I went to the critical care unit, I got a visit from a Sister/nurse. I went to nursing school at this hospital back in 1966. It was totally a Catholic hospital back then. She told me that the head of hospital back then, Sister Honesta is STILL alive and in her 100's. I may go see her in the DFW area.
My own sister and I aren't very close but she came through like a champ. Brought me 3 or 4 sets of PJ's. Her husband went out one night and got me taco's! I am so hungry, I could eat all day!
