Is it me, or does she look kinda angry? I know if it were me, I'd not want to live quite that long.

Part of what's amazing is that because of her age, she's lived in 3 different centuries; the 1800s, 1900s and 2000s. Can you imagine all the change she's seen in her life? I bet speaking with her is an amazing experience.

Umberto Eco did a parody fiction piece called 'Granita' (parody of Lolita) in which the narrator describes his lust for very old women....

It's in his collection called 'Misreadings...

From 'Granita':
"Granita. Flower of my adolescence, torment of my nights. Will I ever see you again? Granita. Granita. Gran-i-ta. Three syllables, the second and third forming a diminutive, as if contradicting the first. Gran. Ita. Granita, may I remember you until your image has become a shadow and your abode the grave."

Now THAT is the face of wisdom and experience.

God, the things that woman has experienced and has seen in her lifetime.

"Her memory is impressive and she loves to talk," Cadari said, adding that Da Silva lives with her 58-year-old adopted son, Aparecido H. Silva. This means she adopted him when she was probably in her 60's or 70's. Enough said about OW having children late in life! :p

I think sometimes people get to an age where they may not want to go on. My Gramma (actually my cousins gramma, but we all call her that) is 93, still drives her car and goes to church functions etc.... but everyday she goes on about joining her Harold, and that she misses him so much. And thinks she is a burden on everyone around, although she still takes care of herself. Bathroom, bathing, cooking. Her apartment is actually built right off of my cousins house, and he and his wife adore her! She is so loved by all of us. Yet, for her, she'd really rather be with Harold.
