Hello again!!
I havent been in for quite a while but wanted to stop in and announce
my hubbys and my first wedding anniversary!
My husband is 32 and I am 49. We met online in 1999, started a relationship
(long distance at first) in 2001, became engaged in 2003 and married one year
later in 2004.
With this marraige I have inherited three spirited and challanging step children
(two who are special needs) and so far its been a wonderul experience!
My hubby Voodoo (nickname) and I were married on Valentines Day in front
of a snowy waterfall in Oregon. We kind of "eloped" in that we only took two friends
with us to witness and celebrate. We were kinda of poor at the time, and we really didnt
want to wait any longer and it was absolutely marvelous!
Later in the summer we had a second ceremony so that family and other friends
could celebrate with us. Our daughter was able to come out and be the flower girl
and we had the second ceremony at the falls again, only this time in 85 degrees!
I dont do heat! But despite that and some bugaboos it was a lovely day.
I am writing this so that others who are needing support/inspiration to take the
plunge can know that this whole older woman younger man thing DOES work. Age is not
the issue....its LOVE. "Where there is great love, there are always miracles". That
quote was on our wedding invitations and it is true.
This summer my mother in law (who has not approved of us but is starting to come
around at last) will be bringing the children out to Oregon with her and staying with
us for two weeks. (the children live with their mother during the school year). She
and I have never been close, in fact she hurt my feelings terribly when Voodoo and I
lived together in Ohio , when I moved there for one year to get to know the kids. I guess she is trying to mend fences....but we shall see. Other than this we have the support of
Voods father and his side of the family ( Voods mom and dad were divorced long ago)
and so there is a balance of sorts. So you all may be seeing me a bit again as I navigate
these new uncharted waters!
I wanted to wave and give a shout out to BearsAngel who I know from another BB we
both used to belong to and say HIHI !! Read one of your threads and am so happy for you both on the purchase of your first house together! This is something Vood and I can only dream about for now, so we can live vicariously through you! :)
I wish the same happiness for all of you that BearsAngel and Bear and Voodoo and I
have found! I will try to be around more to give encouragement to those who need a hug or a shoulder. God Bless!!
