I know it's necessary... but painful to mommy :( I never saw bruises before I thought their may be something wrong... but I'm glad it's normal!!! Hugs!! eddiesfairy 04-16-2005, 08:54 PM When my baby was teething i can remember how hard it was watching him go thru this. I can remember one time he was screaming so hard and nothing would soothe him.....i looked in his mouth and could literally see the tooth just below the surface. I washed my hands thoroughly and began gently massaging his gums with one finger...I didnt use ambesol...it can numb little throats and make it hard for them to swallow. Any way I used catnip...yes tincture of catnip... I got it at the health food store....I had read that catnip was good for tooth pain. So i had it handy for when my baby started to teeth...and massaging his gums with that soothed him every time.... I know it sounds weird but it worked and there is nothing in the stuff that can hurt him. I bought the tincture in an alcohol base but i am sure they make it in different bases. I didnt mind the alcohol base because i can remember my mother giving me whiskey to rub on a sore tooth when i was younger...lol. Any way if you want to try it i am sure your local health food store or natural medicine store would have it. Best of luck....its hard watching little ones hurting i know. that fairy. MerAlove23 04-17-2005, 06:30 AM Thank You!!! I never heard of Catnip... my poor guy is such a strong trooper.... He doesn't usually cry in pain... he does only at nighttime but the past three days hes back to sleeping thru the night.....So I am hoping this teething thing passes fast... This is the worst part!! I'd rather be up every two hour feedings than to watch my son in this much pain!! Jo-Admin 04-17-2005, 09:45 PM Well, I hope I am not the only person who ever did this.. I froze a washrag and let my kids chew on it. Yup, just regular old washrag? Got it damp and threw it in the freezer...Kids chewed the heck out of it, and it kind of numbed the gums up, I suppose? Anyhow..worked for me! SoraNoYume 04-19-2005, 02:53 PM It's a little mesh bag on a ring that you can put fruit, veggies, etc. inside and the baby can chew on it and suck through little pieces of the food without getting the big pieces. There is a set of 2 by Munchkin, they also had some made by Sassy and another company (it was blue and white) at the store. The Munchkin ones were $5.50 for 2; the Sassy one was $7 something for one plus the refills were another $7, and I think the blue and white one was about $7 also but it came with a couple of refill bags. And you can freeze the bags with the foods inside.......and then he can "teeth" on it without fear of him choking on any foods. Also, another very inexpensive treat and a delight to them in a frozen waffle..... Just my thoughts.......... Love, Sora |
