Hi Dan ...thanks for the column

I just got a new pc in March...I went from Windows 98 (I LOVE My Windows 98) to Windows XP....

Ever since half the windows I want to open come up unable to open, plus on some of my windows...most of where the ads should be it also has the page cannot be displayed (maybe this is a good thing)

My problem is I belong to a music forum which updated and I can no longer access because the window I need to activate my new passwork...."cant be displayed" this also happens with the majority of sites I try to access too...but I miss my music forum most.

Helllllllllppppppppppp

Hmmm...

When you got the PC...did you do an upgrade of Windows '98 to XP? Or did you reformat and reinstall XP?

I ask that, because I don't usually recommend just a simple upgrade like that, because they can cause a lil havoc, and that might be what is happening in your case.

What kind of connection do you have? Dialup? Broadband? If it's broadband...try pulling the power on your cable/dsl modem. Have it out for about five minutes. It's called a power cycle. Power it back up and see if that fixes it.

Also, try a spyware and anti-virus scan...

Another thing to check....right click on "My Computer"...and choose "Properties"...then go to the Hardware tab...click on Device Manager. Make sure there are no yellow exclamation points. If there are, that means there is a conflict or the hardware is uninstalled.

Try that....
If you have any questions, please let me know!
