Motives and Goals

Hi everyone:

Hopefully this is a good place to get advice and support!

I am a male, 42 who has never been married or even had a girlfriend. I have battled a weight problem since my first year in college and licked it in my mid twenties (I still "thought fat" then) but put it back on when I took a sit down job and couldn't lose it.

I am FINALLY losing it (Atkins and lots of exercise - I can do 2.5 miles on a treadmill in 45 minutes and am 3 - 5 times a week). I should be buff (well buffer!) in a year and would love to have a girlfriend who is in the 22 - 30 age range as that is where I feel I am in terms of life experience. I am not dead set on marrying the first one - I would be happy with a girlfriend who thinks I am fun. I obviously think young and would like to eventually marry someone younger (say when I am 50 and she is 30 - could be the first one or another I meet, whatever happens).

I have had friends say you HAVE to marry someone your own age but I really want someone who hasn't been through it all before and enjoy going through it with me. I figure I would be more apprciative and mature about the relationship than a lot of guys in that age range.

I am hoping I can get support and encouragement here (I tried the online thing and the distance factor in a potential relationship is a real drag, so I am NOT looking for anyone on here - I also live in a college town and there are a LOT of women in my desired age range here).

So Hello All!

Comet

Welcome to Agelesslove Comet.
Age doesn't matter if you'll be dating, as long as both of you are on the same wavelength i.e. same mentality
If you feel like you'd better be with a younger lady then go ahead. If you have a look around in this forum, you'll realise there are a lot of happy age-gapped couples and it's not impossible for you to find one as well.

GOod luck with your Weight Loss... I love the ATkins... I'm doing it!!

anyway..... Look for Love... Don't look for just the age..... you will find that special someone if you don't restrict yourself and keep an open mind...

I am not set on a specific age, but am really hoping for someone who has not been married or had a serious relationship as I would prefer to go through those stages with someone who themselves haven't been in a string of very long serious realationships or married. It's the stage of life I am at right now (it's like I have been on "hold" for 15 years).

The age range I gave (22-30) is where I think the most chance of finding someone like that. I am not hard and fast on this, but I would prefer it to be that way (so I probably would be OK with someone who had a boyfriend or two though college but would really rather not have someone who was married or living with someone for a whole bunch of years even if they were in that age range).

I very well could find someone like that above 30 (like someone who has been focused on career or school) but her clock might be ticking and she might want to start a family right away and I would prefer a good 5 to 8 years in a relationship (travel, go out and do a lot of stuff, have wild sex all the time - I told you I think young!) before starting a family.

I hope that makes sense? I still think I should hold out for what I want!!!
