What do you do when you have been overstressed.

As I look for your answers, I think I'll start with ONE beer. :D

(I don't want to see how I act on two) :D

Well, I'm usually quite stressed out dealing with being in a financially tight situation and sharing a home with my ex as we raise three children together, trying to find time for myself and also working on a long distance relationship with my guy...

I find myself de-stressing most often by reading forums online, reading a book or magazine, writing letters to my guy to mail the old fashioned way, pouring over flyers and compiling a grocery list, doing mundane chores that require little thought such as laundry or dishes...basically anything that distracts and doesn't require much problem solving.

And yes, an occasional glass of wine and a DVD are enjoyable--that's DVD, not TV. I think I would drink the whole bottle if I had to sit through commercials  (I don't watch television).

So, what prompted this thread? Everything okay?

My best stress reliever is spending time with my daughter. She is an absolute comedian. Tonight she had me laughing so hard I was crying. Made me completely forget about anything worrisome on my mind. :)

I also enjoy spending time in solitude listening to music and burning scented candles. Sometimes I just need that quiet time. Especially in the early morning hours before the day becomes hectic again.

My #1 stress reliever is my computer. I usually play a game of spider solitaire... difficult level... or one of my rpg's. I also love reading a good book, or sometimes I'll be in the mood for a jigsaw puzzle. Haven't done that in awhile though. If it's a nice day, then doing yardwork or gardening will chase most of my stresses right out. :)

I would agree with WhiteRose...Lock the door,turn-off the phone and put on some good music always works for me...

When I am stressed I run! My ym and I both love trail running. Since we met over a year ago he has got me motivated to compete in trail marathons. Today we ran up and down a mountain in the pouring rain...it was actually snowing on top! I placed 2nd for women (only 15 women ran but I was still psyched : ) Running races together brings us closer and it is so much fun to look forward to a different race each weekend. So when I feel overwhelmed I get out there and run...there is nothing better than the hug I get at the end when I finish.

Either taking a hot bath or cooking while listening to the radio. Of course a week in the countyside won't harm at all but unfortunately can't afford to get away from the big city often. Oh and swimming, I go to the pool at least once a week and swim for an hour almost non-stop, then I'm totally relaxed for the rest of the day.

That reminds me, the hot tub! I only wish it wasn't broken... *sigh*

Play the piano...
Cuddle up on the sofa and watch an old movie...
Work out...
