manofmisteree 05-10-2005, 02:21 AM I'm always observing things around me, people in particular. One thing i notice a lot is differences of how people act in public.
So i did a yahoo search and came across this page: http://www.personalitypage.com/high-level.html
it has 16 personality types. Of the 16 which do you think suits you best? Which type of personality have you felt was usually most compatible with your own personality?
whiterose 05-10-2005, 05:07 AM I saw myself in more than one and then tried to narrow it down further. Maybe it's because it's 6:00 am here and I am not awake yet, but I really had a hard time deciding which of these two suits me best. The more detailed info they provide within the link in each category really helps give more definition to each. I am leaning more towards the second one, but the 1st one almost describes me to a tee, too.
ISTJ
Serious and quiet, interested in security and peaceful living. Extremely thorough, responsible, and dependable. Well-developed powers of concentration. Usually interested in supporting and promoting traditions and establishments. Well-organized and hard working, they work steadily towards identified goals. They can usually accomplish any task once they have set their mind to it.
INFJ
Quietly forceful, original, and sensitive. Tend to stick to things until they are done. Extremely intuitive about people, and concerned for their feelings. Well-developed value systems which they strictly adhere to. Well-respected for their perserverence in doing the right thing. Likely to be individualistic, rather than leading or following.
I love stuff like this Mano. :)
whiterose 05-10-2005, 05:10 AM I just noticed that there is a test you can take that will help you define your personality type: http://www.personalitypage.com/indicate.html but you do have to have a password.
Maybe I'll take that this evening and see if my initial impression was accurate.
EDIT: Yikes. You do have to pay for the password. Just be aware.
ravenglow 05-10-2005, 05:28 AM I love these tests Myers-Briggs types tests. I took them years ago (maybe about 10) and found that Im pretty rare LOL. If you do some digging there are even more detailed personality type tests out there as well.
According to this I am an INFP Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving (Introverted Feeling with Extraverted Intuition)

I just took it, and, and .... It came back..... CALL 911!! !!
***Forgive me: I just HAD to do that! LOL!!***

PS. Seriously.. .I love this type of stuff! I took Meyers-Briggs years ago, it takes hours, but it's a great tool, most especially for Corp. (or any, really) managers to dispense for screening potential candidates for hiring! I have to run out, for most of the remainder of the day, but I will come back later and re-post with the results. Great topic, Doc!
lencarol 05-10-2005, 08:48 AM I took Meyers-Briggs about 20 years ago and was INFP. Then took it again a few years ago--still INFP, strongly intuitive and perceptive. Middle of the road on introvert and feeling.
This one is the best I've took so far. I couldn't believe how accurately it described me and those I know that also took it. According to the The Enneagram Institute there are 9 personality types.
Here's a sample test. Enneagram test (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/dis_sample_36.asp)
I am a type 2.
Type Two
The Helper
The caring, interpersonal type. Twos are empathetic, sincere, and warm-hearted. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing. They are well-meaning and driven to be close to others, but can slip into doing things for others in order to be needed. They typically have problems with possessiveness and with acknowledging their own needs. At their Best: unselfish and altruistic, they have unconditional love for others.
DebbieFromUtica 05-11-2005, 01:22 PM LOL...At first glance I thought "what the hell can you learn about someone's personality from an enema gram test". I had one of those tests once and the only thing I learned about my personality was that I was afraid of x-ray techs..lol...

Science Goddess 05-11-2005, 07:39 PM Like some of you, I took the Meyers-Brigg test many years ago when I first went back to school...probably 13 years ago? I literally ranked right in between an INFP and an INTP. The person that administered the test and analyzed the test results told me that being on the border of being a 'T' and an 'F' is one of the reasons that I have such a hard time making decisions. And which one I would rank as could change depending on the day.
MOST interesting thing that I learned from this was that I am an introvert who has learned extrovert qualities to get along in the world and to have the life that I desire. When I heard this, it made absolute sense to me. Some of my friends would laugh their tails off if you told them I was an introvert. The ones that know me well would get it.
Also, the counselor said that your personality type (under this system) can change over time as you grow and develop and experience more of life, so I'd be interested in taking it again.
Is it online?
Lynn, I forget my Enneagram number!
EDIT: Here's a similar test online: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
I came out INFP.
manofmisteree 05-11-2005, 09:15 PM Hey! That was fun, mom (man of mystery) :) . I am ENFP!
LOL, i've never been called a MOM before....i guess i'm so used to people calling me "mano" :D
Lynn, I forget my Enneagram number!
Ahh just retake it. It's not very long.
EDIT: Here's a similar test online: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

Hmmm. According to this test ....
Your Type is

do you feel your results from these tests are fairly accurate?
...or do they all come out "CALL 911!" :D

Accurate, you ask? Not only accurate Doc, but consistantly so!!... they ALL said "CALL 911!" !
** I SWEAR to you... Charlie Bear, my cat, the one I mentioned in the other post? Is sleeping on my desk, and when I just now typed that above 911 thing... he snorted!! I know.. just coincidence... but still.... LOL!!**
~Rose~
edit: Seriously though... those tests are excellent. Some... you may not agree with their results, but when you study the dynamics of the ones that you don't agree with you end up amazing yourself that they really ARE very accurate, but you were blind to it!
