Your earliest memory

I know, I'm on a roll here. That's what happens when you're waiting around for things/people and don't want to get involved in anything time consuming like housework. LOL.

So...... What is the earliest time you can remember? And describe it.

I can remember my first time using the potty chair! It's crystal clear. I can remember my mother smiling down at me and how 'big girlish' I felt. I was only 14 months old. :D

My first memory is looking out the backyard window and seeing a train go by and shouting "WHOOOooWHooooooooo!!"

I remember cutting my hair to the scalp when I was 2. Saw the scissors on the back of the sink and thought I'd help mommy out by trimming my bangs.

I don't remember anything before age 4, when we moved to the house my parental units still live in. My first VAGUE memory was of the "pickle" plane. That's what I thought the plane looked like... a giant pickle with wings.

My first DISTINCT memory was about two weeks later, when my Dad took us on a tour of the new house. It was empty and echo'd. Mom put me down in the kitchen and Dad opened the basement door... right over my toes. I screamed. I could hear the echo all through the basement and kitchen and upstairs. It was WEIRD. I screamed more because the echo scared the crap out of me (the house was screaming back!) and Dad closed the basement door and when I looked down both my pinky toenails were bloody messes... the door sheered them right off. :o

Oddly, I remember it most because every six months for the next 15 years or so, my pinky toenails would get to an odd 1/2 inch thickness and then mysteriously peel off to reveal tiny, thin toenails underneath. *shrug* Doesn't do that now.. they're just absurdly tiny and super thick! LOL.

I can remember being on the front porch on my tricycle and wanting to fly so bad. So I started at one end of the porch and got up to speed and drove right off. Dropped like a brick and hit the sidewalk in an icky crash. My mom says I was around 2 when I did that. Knocked all my bottom teeth loose. It felt great feeling like I could tho'. :)

i think my earliest memory may have been when i was 3 and i left the united states for the first time. i also had chicken pox during that time. i dont remember much of the chicken pox but i do remember some of the things we did in the philippines like swimming, visiting my cousins, the interior of the house.

i also remember going to the doctor a lot when i was younger for painful shots and also for frequent eye appointments. i still rember my former eye doctors name...Dr. Brown.

i remember when i was 4 i drew a painting in preschool of a red gumball machine. looked like this: http://www.shapepostcards.com/images/Postcard_photos/Food/gumball_machine.jpg

i remember various things about my father when i was little. like he always put cinnamon in his toast or honey, he always watched westerns or black and white movies, i remember we had a lot military type stuff at home cause he was in the navy, i remember the scent of his cologne, the type of shampoo and soap he used.

i remember my grand father giving me my first musical instrument a key board at four along with a red ball. that was the last time i saw him...he called again when i was 18 from florida.

i remember taking a trip to my grandmothers house around the same age and i was playing with her cats as usual. i knelt down and the cat clawed me above my left i. i still have a somewhat noticible scar (to me anyway) from the incident.

there much more i remember from my childhood but i've listed enough.

I don't think that I remember anything before I was 3 years old. At 3, I remember that I had a little pink and white doll buggy I liked to push up and down the sidewalk in front of my house. I also remember there were some nice older people in the house next door that used to give me cookies.

I know I definitely remember when I was 4, because my mother was pregnant. I remember one time she was in the shower..and the tornado sirens started going off (we live in Kansas!)..and I ran into the bathroom and tore back the shower curtain and hollered "MOM MOM..it's a TOMATO warning!!!". But I remember seeing her big pregnant belly, and it was like I never even noticed before that something was "different" about Mom lately. LOL So she had to sit down and explain to me that I was going to have a little brother or sister. *smiles*

I don't know how old I was, but I remember being given a bath in the kitchen sink. I had to be pretty small. I'm guessing about 2 yrs old.

On a site note.... Jody, you crack me up.

LMAO !!!!!! --- "Tomato warning" :p

Ok, I know you're not going to believe this, but I was like probably 6 months old, I remember my mom sitting me on my bedroom floor. I remember having only a diaper on and it feeling really big and puffy...lol...I remember her putting all these gay toys around me and then her walking out of the room and disapearing into the darkness just outside my bedroom. I 'member I felt so scared and alone, I didnt know where my mom went, if she'ld be back...etc. then I looked at my gay toys and thought something like..."how gay are these toys...I just want my MOMMY!!!!"

Wow!! You paint good! Hehe.....

I read somewhere that our sense of smell is our strongest restimulator. Moreso than looking at pictures or hearing certain voices/sounds. Particular smells can bring back not only memories of another time, but sometimes even the feelings that go with it. For me, whenever I smell chamomile (the herb) I always remember my grandmothers' farm. It grew everywhere. It makes me nostalgic for warm and lazy summer days, with lemonade and slow talk with people I love.

my next memory is of being about 3 years old and falling off the back of my father's snowmobile and he didn't notice and he went up the hill without me and my grandpa came and got me and comforted me.

My next vivid memory is being 3 and watching my family make a HUGE snowman on our new house's front yard.

Your dad must be related to my dad to not notice you'd fallen off!!

Another vivid memory for me was when I was 2. We were coming home from somewhere and getting ready to pull into our driveway and there was this Indian riding his painted pony in front of our house. I freaked out, and started crying and screaming, afraid the Indian would kidnap me. This was when we lived in Tucson. Indians scared me for years after that. So silly.

i just remembered something else: Green Olives!

he would always eat green olives...i think there's where i inherited my love for olives. dont know where i got my obsession with cheese and sushi from though. :D

i also remember that we made frequent trips to the little ceasers pizza. he'd order an anchovie pizza while i ordered a plain cheese one. the more cheese the better

I love anchovie pizza's!! :p

This reminds me of something else. Those A&W drive-ins. Omg I loved it when we'd go there!! It was such an exciting treat. I was always impressed how Dad would talk into a speaker and order what we wanted and pretty soon a lady came skating out with our order and hook it on the side of our car.

My earliest memory was in a grocery store with my grandmother, Safeway, in Phoenix. I remember the old black and white square linoleum tiles. We had just gone to get my special white boots, as I had weak ankles and could not walk well. I was just two. She was getting something at the meat counter for lunch I think, and I was hopscotching the squares.
