Mine is "Crush" with Andie McDowell. You have to see it! Very sexy and wonderful, it deals a lot with how people can disapprove and about true love. Lots of twists and turns and it's funny! Let me know! Annie.

This is slightly off the subject, but there is actually an opera about an older woman and younger man. It's by American composer Samuel Barber, and it's called Vanessa. It premiered in 1958, and is fairly well known among opera lovers.

Vanessa waits 20 years for her lover to return to her, and one day, she learns that he is coming. But the man who arrives at her home, though he has the same name, is actually the son of her former lover, who has died in the meantime. Anatol (the son) comes out of curiosity because his father had often spoken about Vanessa, much to the distress of his father's wife. Now that the father has died, the son wants to meet the famous Vanessa.

Of course, Anatol has no emotional ties with Vanessa (yet), so the first thing he does is seduce her niece Erika, who is close to him in age. For him, it's just a fling... but unfortunately, Erika becomes pregnant. He offers to marry her, but makes it clear that he feels friendship only, not love. She refuses his offer. In the meantime, he has gotten to know Vanessa, and they fall in love and plan to marry. Erika tries to commit suicide, but ends up only miscarrying. She never tells Vanessa why she tried to end her life, not wanting to ruin Vanessa's happiness.

Annie,

I don't know if the opera Vanessa has ever been filmed; you won't find it on Netflix or Amazon.com. It has been issued in audio recordings, though, several times.

The music is very impressive, by the way.

Thank you so much! I'm going to mention it to my Mom, she's a classical musician and will be impressed/delighted if I bring it up! Oh and I love your name, wiser not sadder! Take care! Annie.

Do you remeber The Graduate? Way before my time, but that was really contraversial. I think it's Bull Durham with Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins?? not a great movie but a great real life OW/YM

What's Eating Gilbert Grape, with a young and very delicious Johnny Depp.

Arizona Dream with Johnny Depp and Faye Dunaway. Classic ow/ym relationship. I guess. (If there is such a thing!)

divagirl, rdhdnrs & ornellopederzol, thanks for your replies! Can you believe I've never seen The Graduate or What's Eating Gilbert Grape! I know they are classics too! Arizona Dream sounds great and I've seen Tadpole; I liked it! Check out Children of the Century, a French film about the true story of the 2-year romance between French author George Sand (Juliette Binoche) and a much younger poet, Alfred de Musset. (Benoit Magimel) Talk 2 you later!
