Setting default email in XP

Dan ~

The other thing that I can't figure out how to do is to set a non-windows program as my default email program in XP. I somehow did it on my old computer.

For my personal email, I use a software program that is provided by my alma mater because it allows easy access to university conferences, alumni info, etc.

When I go to the Add & Remove window, I choose the button for "set program access and defaults". None of the options under there will allow me to choose this other software program. It let's me choose AOL, Outlook, Internet, etc. but not this other program.

Any thoughts?

Hi SG...

If you're using Windows XP....right click on the Start Button.
Select "Properties"
On the Start Menu tab, select "Customize" by the view you use. (The view you don't use, will be greyed out.)
Near the bottom of the General Tab, you should see a place where you can set your Browser and Email Client to show up in the top of the Start Menu.

If it doesn't show up there or under the Program Access...

In the actual email program itself...try going into like a Tools or Edit menu...and you should be able to find something like Properties or Options or Account Settings. It might be there...where you can check a tick box that says to make it your default program.

MOST excellent!

It did not show up as an option under the Start button...but there IS an option under the edit, properties menu in the email program itself.

Yay! Thanks.
