Hello,
I have, for the most part, a super duper relationship w/ my bf. But I am somewhat troubled by some "secondary characteristics" of our relationship. For example, he is 55, not working, and lives off a very (and I mean very!) small pension. I work full time and will be going back to school soon. It's as if we are on opposite ends of the continuum: my career is taking off and his has sputtered and died. He would like to find work but it has been hard at his age to "start over" and find a decent-paying job. I'm afraid this my cause resentment down the road. Also, he isn't in the greatest of health. I read about many older men and women on this site who look younger than their age and are fit as a fiddle. Not the case w/ my man, bless his heart! He looks his age, is overweight and diabetic. I know there are no guarantees in life, but the annoying realist in me tells me that I may be signing up for young widowhood if we were to marry, and I would like to have children someday (with him only! I've never been intimate w/ a man except him and he is my first love and the thought of being w/ another man makes me want to have diahrrea) and don't like the idea of raising a child or teenager (heaven forbid!) alone and without a father.
Yet, when I think of how absolutely in love we are, do these things matter? Thanks in advance.
