Something special for the lady

I was just looking for a few suggestions. My younger lady is in college and is getting a two week break soon. So I wanted to plan something special, ie a 10 day trip.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We don't really get to spend much time together, we live three hours apart. But I try and go see her during the week, and she comes to see me on weekends. So I really want this to be something nice.

Well... I just got back from Cancun. HOLY WOW. Beautiful resort beaches... all-inclusive packages (all your food/drinks for the time you're there.. set fee... unlimited drinks!) Drinking age is 18. Clubs are fabulous. Yeah... WOW.

Or, are you talking a less expensive trip? 10 day and all... umm... don't know where you are to help. LOL.

I was just looking for suggestions, but she likes pretty much anything. Camping, the beach, the big cities. I was just looking for a woman's point of view. Something relaxing for her, but where she can have a good time. And I am open to just about anything.

We did go to NYC over the Christams holiday and she really enjoyed it. I suppose I am just looking for something to suprise her with.

Sounds like fun. I think I'll start checking it out. Planning a little something special, and I just want to make sure everything is perfect. She is a wonderful woman.

Hi,

It depends on how into the 'wilderness' she is, but if she enjoys outdoor things, getting away from the city, hiking, horseback riding, intimate romantic evenings (especially since you say you don't get to spend much time together) it is always nice to have a getaway to a forest. Camping is an option. But there are lots of national forests that rent out cabins, hotel rooms as well, have a site with a nice resturant (most cabins come with kitchens or grill pits to cook your own meals as well). So all in all you get lots of time alone together to walk through a forest and admire the scenery and the sound of birds and the smell of fresh air (umm, and mosquitoes and stuff, and mind the poison ivy...), or ride horses together, go swimming and canoeing, cuddle up by a fire, have a nice 'home cooked' candle lit dinner or dinners at a resturant (and they usually offer a breathtaking view of the scenery). If the two of you like to drink though, check if its in a dry county. My parents found that out the hard way on a family trip once, and drove for two hours to the nearest place that could sell liquor and stocked up on wine. What ever you do, it is really great to hear how important this is to you! I wish you both a wonderful time!

Mmm.. San Francisco is wonderful! I loved it--Fisherman's Wharf and Alcatraz especially. If you do end up going there, definitely go to Boudin's.. it's this sourdough bread factory/store/restaurant/museum on Fisherman's Wharf. The food was incredible, and I absolutely love the atmosphere.

My first trip to San Francisco was just a few weeks ago, but it was not with my OM. :( It's one of his favorite cities though, and he and I are planning on going out there sometime within the next year. One of my best friends and her husband live in Monterey, which is an hour and a half-ish south of SF. A nice drive on Hwy. 1 as well. My only problem with San Francisco was the prices.. the food prices are absolutely outrageous!

Now in early May, my boyfriend took me to Cabo San Lucas down in Baja California. HIGHLY recommend it if you're looking for somewhere all-inclusive on a beach! It was absolutely gorgeous and tons to do. They even have horseback riding on the beach, which was a lot of fun. We stayed at the Riu Palace (www.riu.com has some information on it). It was a newer hotel that opened a little over 6 months ago, and it was gorgeous. The only complaint I had with the hotel itself was the Shitake Mushroom soup that the Japanese restaurant had.. blech.. avoid that at all costs. Anyway, we were only there for four days, but it was just fantastic!

Good luck, know how jealous I am, and let us know where you end up deciding to go!

Katie
