Chatterbox 07-11-2005, 08:41 PM I know, I know, too many reasons to list, but let's try! :D
I have a dog and a cat. Not ONE DAY goes by that they don't make me laugh at least once. Even in my darkest times, when I would have gone months without so much as a smile, my animals gave me the gift of laughter every single day.
Nothing I can ever do for them can ever repay what they have done for me.

I guess I love my cat. But I don't have a strong emotional attachment to any of my other animals. It could be because they have brains the size of peas and are for the most part very instinctual and prefer to avoid human contact in order to remain "happy".
My cat does a lot of really funny things that completely crack me up, like chasing her tail (she's 17 years old) and catching centipedes, howling at my door to open it for her and batting around children's toys and chasing them.
Most of all though, she sleeps on my pillow next to my head every single night and has since the week after I got her from the shelter (she was 3 years old).
It's a comfort to wake and feel her there. I'll miss her when she's gone :(
Genevieve 07-11-2005, 10:02 PM I agree Chatterbox. I have two dogs. It's the unconditional love they never seem to run out of for us. Tails a waggin' anytime one of us enters the room. Always happy just to be in our presence it seems.
BellaLove 07-12-2005, 10:32 AM Yes! I love how my kittens never get tired of seeing me. Everyday when I get home they greet me at the door and meow their precious little heads off!! :-)
And at night, they always come cuddle with me, my bf is quite jealous. LOL :D
whiterose 07-12-2005, 11:59 AM I love my pets because they crack me up. There is always something to laugh about each day. Even if it's the silly looks they give each other when they are about to pounce when play fighting.
Or, when one of them falls off the footstool. I know, shame on me for laughing... but they aren't hurt and it's funny!
Or, when they come flying down the hall and turn into the kitchen and their feet skid on the linoleum.
Or, when they are scared of their own shadow and jump 3 feet into the air.
Or, when they go around the house meowing in a way that truly sounds like they are saying "hello? hello?"
Or, when you go into the bathroom and find them lying in the bathroom sink taking a nap.
Mostly, I love mine because of the unconditional love they give me. Even our "baby" who I'm having issues with using my living room as his litterbox.... there's nothing better than early morning when I am at the computer desk trying to read Ageless posts and he stretches his little paws up at me as if to say "please pick me up, mommy" and then when I do, he snuggles his little head into my shoulder, starts purring, and then pushes his paws back and forth on my face (my son calls it "baking the biscuits" 'cause it looks like he's kneading dough. Cat lovers know what I'm talking about).
Little stinkers. :p

YES!!! I looooove that meow!!! My kitty always does that when I sneak out the the room she is in and she turns around and I'm gone! LOL So funny!!! And she is also quite fond of taking naps in our sink.....and bathtub!!
I love it when my cats see themselves in our mirrored closet doors, jump 10 feet in the air, and their backs arch and tails get fluffy!! :D I actually have a short, funny video tape of my Sebastian doing exactly this!! Wish I could attach it here....don't think I can since it was a video taken with my digital camera....:-(
seascent 07-12-2005, 10:38 PM My friend's cat name Tinkerbell, even though the cat is a male. Because when she got him when he was a few weeks old, she didn't know what his gender was, so she called him Tinkerbell. He just such a fun cat, he like a puppy almost because when you walking, he ran after you and tried to catch your feet. And he loves to be around people, everywhere we goes, he just jumped right in the middle of us. And I found out that except me, he ran and hide when there are males in the house. He wouldn't come out of the room until they were left. I miss that cat!
Faith47 07-13-2005, 12:22 PM I looove my little Sam (kitten). He is now 4 1/2 months. Got him when he was 2 months old. Wish I could attach a pic of him.
He also makes me smile every single day. He follow me everywhere, sleeps beside me, under the sheets. I remember the first day I got him, he slept on my chest. It was soooooooo adorable.
When I get home he comes right at the door so I can take him in my arms, gives kisses (when he feels like it lol)
Oh! one thing that was really special. My son Christoher was playing guitar and he was staring at him and moving his paw up and down. Too bad I dont have a cam to record that! He likes some kind of music
I culd go on and on but I'll bore you all! lol
Anyway, I love my little Sam
:D
Chatterbox 07-13-2005, 02:36 PM My cat loves "little baby kisses". Without holding him, I'll give him ever-so-gentle, ever-so-soft, ever-so-quiet little kisses on his cheek and he just sits there enjoying them.
Chatterbox 07-13-2005, 02:39 PM I culd go on and on but I'll bore you all! lol ... :D
No, no, no, Faith!!!! Feel free!!! You can't bore us!!!! Why do you think Jody gave us our own little corner? So we can go on and on and on and not disturb "the others."

I am melting right now!!! I love giving kisses.......my bf has also become addicted to giving kisses to my babies....
Chatterbox 07-13-2005, 02:49 PM Oh, Bellalove, don't you just love to see a big, strong men being so sweet and gentle with our "babies"?
Faith47 07-13-2005, 02:52 PM No, no, no, Faith!!!! Feel free!!! You can't bore us!!!! Why do you think Jody gave us our own little corner? So we can go on and on and on and not disturb "the others."
Thanks girl :)
and that is funny....to not distub "the others" LOL
I can say this. He is very "territorial". I made him a house out of a box with 2 opening (one of them on the top) and dont even try to touch "his" house! lol
Just too hilarious!
BellaLove 07-13-2005, 02:53 PM I have to say it is one of the best things to see!! He is so in love with them, he can't hide it anymore.....he claims to be a 'dog' person....Ha!! :D
I just love it when my Sebastian greets me with a ridiculously LOUD meow......especially when I'm bringing fresh shark for him to feast on, OMG the meow is to die for!! LOL
BrownEyedLady65 08-10-2005, 10:16 PM I love all the pet stories here. Keep 'em coming! ;)
I'm not sure when it started, but one late night I hear a cat that sounded really distressed. I immediately thought it was one of the strays outside, soturned over and tried to go back to sleep. The sound started to get closer and I realized it was my cat. I called him. Nothing. I whistled for him and he came into my bedroom and jumped up on my bed and started purring. This started happening a few more times and I was at a loss as to what to do. Apparently because the apartment was dark and I had gone to bed, he couldn't find me. A friend suggested I get a night light. So I now have a rather bright night light in the kitchen and one in the bathroom which is near my bedroom. It seemed to solve the problem of my cat howling in the middle of the night like he was calling out for me to come and get him.
Another thing he does: if I haven't gone to bed by 11:00pm (I'm a night owl since I stopped working and stay up until 1:00am), my big boy will come and sit in front of me as if to say, "It's time to go to bed now!" LOL
catlover 08-11-2005, 06:47 AM I'm a cat person (obviously)
my Amber sleeps between my legs every nite. When the weather cools down she will run around the house-running laps for no apparent reason except because its fun
Renegade plays fetch with a stuffed sock. he is an enormous (I would guess at least 17 pound) cat, but has the most girly meow I've ever heard
Sid (10 months) and Calamity Jayne (5 months) play continuously. When she was littler he would wrestle her, chase her, rough her up. By the time she was 2 months old she started tormenting him. When he's had enough he sits on her--all of her
