just read a piece in USA Today's living section...7.18.05...
in florida, michigan, mississippi, north carolina, north dakota, west virginia, and virginia it is unlawful to live together out of wedlock...people living together are violating state laws against "lewd and lascivious" cohabitation....it's one of those antiquated blue laws that were never dropped from the books...rarely enforced...but there was one case of a woman in north carolina who lost her government job because she had a live-in boyfriend...now ACLU is suing on her behalf....just crazy...just like that alabama, and many other states' statute forbidding interracial marriages that was repealed couple of years ago....

Also may I add that in Virginia you can have no phycial contact with your sinifigant other in public on Sundays. That includes holding hands or putting your arms around each other and if you are military it is enforced.

I got a laugh out of Florida's Law: "living together in open adultery" is illegal. Obviously sneaking around is still okay!

that is also a violation of the UCMJ ( Uniform Code of Military Justice for any civilians out there). We found that little blurb while we were in basic training... got quite a few chuckles out of it.
