I have wanted to put this question to women for a long time. When a guy gets the wink does it always mean the same thing? For example:
last night while I was working(bartender) a girl walks up to get a drink from me. She had a hugh smile and winked at me before I took here order. I knew what the wink was for in this situation .It ment she was hitting on me. As it turns out she and I started talking and she invited me to meet her at an after hours bar.

this is where I get confused...A woman I have known since I was a kid asked me to do some tech work for her, later she wanted me to housesit and I have visited her office to fix computers. On these occasions she has winked at me. Like when I was walking out of the office for the PC repair job she winked as she said good bye.

A wink, unless otherwise identifiable as a TIC, is almost always a sure sign she is flirting with you and/or interested...

TICs are another story, tho. BUT, if your friend doesn't have a tic, she's flirting. :D

hmmm....there are things I can't go into on here that make it impossible for us to have a relationship. Trust me she knows how impossible that would be. So one can assume she is wanting something less serious we'll call it?

I have to say, not necessarily flirting. I go through stages where my smile is always accompanied by a wink. I winked at a seven year old in karate class the other day. I don't always see it as flirting, sometimes it's just being silly or indicative of sharing a secret. It could just be her style. *shrugs*

exactly...but I thought I'd get a definitive answer from women but it comes down to the person and their style. I can agree on that.

A wink is exactly like a grin....it can mean many things....it depends on the situation and how it is delivered. ;)
