Avatars

Some people use their real face avatar. (I used mine once or twice). Some use cartoons or artwork...
I would like for us to share why we picked our specific Avatar, and if it has any special meaning. (Maybe this has been done before and I did not pay attention).

In my case I use our shoes because they represent my bf and I being together. We are only together one week every 4 months so you can imagine how special that is.

I wish he would let me use our faces like Joelstrouble but he does not like any of the pics I have taken of us. :(

I usually use my face but I put the kitten on the bear because my guy calls me his kitten and I call him my bear and it is a cute picture.

Nothing special about my new avatar because it's just silly me with straight hair (usually I have curly hair) but the "sorry Chatterbox" is because Chatters used to adore the avatar of the black kitten and I kept it for a long time mainy because it made her laugh.

Just took my new avatar yesterday. Broke up with my BF and was down and out for a couple of weeks but decided to be happy and just let it all go...the picture reflects that I think :)
I like to see people's faces with their posts, however alot of folks have some downright creative/cute/funny pics as avatars too....miss that kitty Loucine but I like this new one! What beautiful hair you have, curly or straight :D

lol, i'm not computer savvy in making pics fit, so instead of learning to be, i choose to 'let it alone' :D

that's one of the reasons i put some pics up in the photo album. get to see ma goofy grin in those pics. lol

Trace and Raven, I have seen your picture albums and you both look stunning :)

My favorite of mine is of Remi and me together, but because I miss him so much, and we've had so many delays in being together, it's kind of difficult to see the photo all the time. So, I searched for a white rose to match my username.

Tracy, I love your avatar, you sexy woman you! If you need help resizing your photos, Danno can resize your photos for you. I think I could even do that for you if you want to send me one.

Sheila, I love your avatar because I think, like my avatar with Remi and me together, it represents the precious time that a couple in an LDR have together.

And like Tracey said, this site has very small picture settings, it took me forever to make that pic this small, i don't really feel like finding a new one and doing it again.

Well, mine is just me. I picked it cause I didn't look to fat or old, even though it's only from a couple of months ago.

Mine I downloaded from an images site cuz of the stars in the eyes. I thought it fit with my username, which I chose in memory of my dog, Star, who died last year.

I just changed avatar because Joel took the one I had and I think that people here got a bit confused by us having the same one. The one I have now is a picture taken and directed by Joel's older sister.

Mine is just a golden retriever pic poached from the net...... chosen at the request of Manofmisteree, who asked for either a golden or a lhasa apso...... the only lhasa pics I could find were too small to show up well once I'd resized.

In the past, I've often used my own dogs in my avatar. My face has appeared on a few occasions, briefly -- rather like an eclipse! :D

Star, my user name is also one of my dogs. :)

I've used my pic before but I hate looking at myself. It's bad enough I have to see myself on my website. lol

I would love to be able to have a great shot of Caden on there but he's totally anal about having his picture up anywhere. The only one he'd let me use was a totally blurry shot soooo, I went in search of pics that look like him. Hey, it's better than nothing at all. . .<G> He's a cross between Josh Holloway, Daniel Johns and one of the Hanson brothers, so everynow and then I can find a good publicity shot of one of them that captures Caden pretty well - only without the hair down past the rear.

The one I'm using right now is a shot of Daniel Johns from years ago but it's almost a dead ringer. Like I said on another thread, just goes to show that we all have a doppelganger out there somewhere. :D

I am also a techno-tard and for the longest time did not know how to resize or even upload pics. Dan helped with my first one (the sweety that he is), and I just left it there for years. BUT...I'm growing in the computer-abled department and actually figured out a few things fun I could do with the picture software I own. Since all my photos have been B&W (from photo sessions for my business), I decided to take a pic of my eyes in color last week. I resized and cropped them all by myself :D Yippee me....

Plus, a few ladies have asked to see close ups of my face since my laser, so there you go :)

I also LOVE to see pictures of ya'all in your avatars. And I must say....WE ARE A BUNCH OF BEAUTIFUL WOMEN HERE...you girls all rock!

I work with web graphics as a hobby but decided not to go overboard and opted for a simple pic of me. :rolleyes:

Well for me it's Me and My Husband on our Wedding Day.....Just shows you that Age Gap relationships DO work.... :) I like seeing others have their pics to.... Nice to know who i"m talkin to.... I do like the cute pics to... although Dan's Sometimes makes me blind or want to hide under a bed LOL .

Mine is a pic of me... sometimes I like to use other ones, this one I like because I am looking directly and that is how I would look into your eyes if we met in person.... then you would have to tell me the truth. :)

My avatar is for now a vision of me and Susan in a next future (- 103 days),

I love seeing everybody's faces, it makes it more real for me. So I took the best recent pic I could find of me and put it up here. But it's 2 years old now. Trouble is there aren't many pics of me, thank goodness!! :p

Well...I had my pic up for a little while...and have since switched avatars several times...my latest and greatest is my favorite little bunny...Happy Bunny...a "tell it like it is kind of bunny" and the little kiss on his behind is meant for any meanies out there among us... ;) :) :D

My hair is very long and wavy, and its tied back in a pony tail in the photo. I'm 175 cm tall and Stu is very tall too, well over 6 ft. lately i have decided to like the way i look instead of being so picky all the time..I mean I look back at this photo when I'm 70, I'm sure I will feel so grateful to have been young once, with no real deformities.

I am also technically-challenged. Haha. Nessa sized this pink cat pic for me years ago, and that's what I have kept.

Plus... I don't know, sometimes I know people by their avatars and when they change them, I get confused... duh!!! I wouldn't mind having an actual pic of myself up though.

Hmm...I don't think I've ever had a non-me-included avatar, which is kind of weird, because I rarely post pics of myself anywhere. Went about a year here without any at all, then I think my first was a crop of one of the B&Ws my sister took of me one day in '02, it might in fact have been the one that got my man writing to me on another site. :D

I had that for a while...then had one of me and my honey kissing, now the one I have is err...almost a year old. :P But I think the reason it's there is clear - it's Visible Love. :)

Still...I ought to do a new one, I've an idea of what it could be. And then comes the resizing. :P Some sites do that FOR you ya know....

My guy is the same way, so to compromise I used a picture he posted of himself in cartoon form as a "South Park Me" as my MSN avatar haha.

I recently chose this one for a couple different boards i post on. I really do love the pic...Its a heart locked in a jar, with the key broken. Nothing can get to it. Hopefully it will stay that way :D

I have split feelings about pictures in avatars. On the one hand, one of the things that I love about the internet is that we connect (or fail to connect) regardless of our physical appearances. On the other hand, I just love seeing the beautiful faces of the people that I knew were beautiful before I saw them! And then, I need another hand here, I also enjoy the avatars that are images that people have chosen to represent themselves.

As for myself, I didn't want to post a picture of myself when I was thin and gorgeous and now I don't want to post a picture of myself because I'm not so gorgeous!!! Funny, it's just like my boobs: when I was young, I always wore a bra because they were too beautiful to let just everyone see; and now I wear a bra because they look awful without one! LOL (I repeat and reemphasize what I've said before: they are still beautiful without clothes, but man, they don't look good with clothes on!!! :eek: ) The whole point is really pointless because I don't have a scanner or a digital camera!

For the most part, I choose my sign-on name to identify me and I'm very happy with it. I like being "Chatterbox" - thanks to the "delete" key, she's as nice as I am in real life WITHOUT all the angry outbursts! Later, I found the "Queen of Everything" website, which cracked me up because I know so many people in real life that the title is perfect for. Then they added "Princess of Quite A Lot" for the younger members of the website, which also tickled me, so I stole a little from each title and came up with "Queen of Quite A Lot" which I hear it in a very proper, clipped voice, like "Queen of Camelot."

Loucine, I enjoy seeing pictures of you. My only regret is that I never made a copy of your wide-eyed kitty picture that I loved so much!

And, Kathy, I thought you chose your avatar because you're cute as a bunny and people give you smoochie woochies on your little bum!!! :D

I know that nobody cares with all the more important things going on in the world, <G>, but, after two years or so I finally have an unblurry shot of Caden for my avatar! It's a few years old and his hair is a lot longer now but it's SO much nicer than having to use somebody else's picture!!!

I wanted to put one up, probably of my dog, but I have no idea how to do it. Any one able to help. I have pictures of my dog on my desktop if that helps at all.

I think my avatar of me is almost 2 years old or maybe more... But any picture that I take looks the same. :confused: So I guess, all in all, that is good because I am not aging at an accelerated rate yet. :D (But you should see the picture in the attic :eek: )

I've gone through alot of avatars, involving myself....kitty melon helmet, shocked monkey....you name it...

Of course, I also have used Zombie Clause...Zombie Clause unplugged (the one that grossed everyone out...aka "Tar Man" *lol*) and my latest one....
