Just wanted to thank you all for making this site a nice place..not long since I found it..and I take great comfort in all the nice stories and all the good advice. :)

I also joined a Norwegian site..called agegaprelationship..but never got any replies to my many questions..so I asked why...and got this reply from a man aged 35..

the reason you are not getting any replies to your questions and stuff is probably because it's not very interesting to hear about a woman that jumps young boys..

is this the general feeling? made me a bit upset this..this is my first ralationship with a younger man..and hopefully the last..I still have doubts..but he is the BEST thing that has happened to me since I had my kids..

Well...Im not sure why you didn't get any responses to your questions on the other site.

I don't think it was because you like to jump young boys as the man suggested.

Well...unless you mentioned that in your questions.

How old is your younger man?

Nadine.

An even better question would be...how old was the man who made the comment...LMAO...cos ummm older guys are real threatened by these types of relationships...trust me....they are VERY threatened...goes back to the male ego thing..sorry, but it does.

Kathy...

Really?

That doesn't make sense to me....

If the man was older....and was on an Age Gap relationship board...wouldn't that technically mean he was into younger women? So why would an older woman with a younger man freak him out?

Im not trying to argue with you...just trying to wrap my mind around what you said.

Nadine.

Could it have to do with a cultural thing? Going back to the original post...

Maybe not on the boards Jes...that's not really what I was referring to...I am really referring to real life...and not with someone who is in an AgeGap relationship (such as YW/OM)...nope, the men I'm talking about Jes...are in a midlife crisis...and they don't like to see women their age doing the same thing they've done forever...oh well...I say to them TOOOOO BADDDDD! :D :)

The guy who sent her the message was 35 she said....it was based in insecurity. Unfortuantely, I've gotten similar messages from older men on Match.com or Yahoo personals. They see that I list my age range preference as 25-35 and they say the most mean-sprited things like, "When you grow up and realize that a boy can't offer you what a real man can...."...and one even said, " I'm ashamed that you live in my state!" SHEESH.....

Two funny things:
1. These men tend to list an age range pref. for women at least 10 years younger
2. Their messages to me just SOLIDIFY my preference for ym since they remind
me of the insecure, judgmental, impotent aspects of some middle aged-older
men in my experience.

Pay no heed to that message. The guy's a loser, so he's projecting and calling you one in order to feel better/more superior. It's the same kind of bullying that happens in middle school...the football player picks on the nerd because he needs to feel more virile and powerful.

Just plain lame.

I seriously don't know if that is the general opinion, but women being with ym is still not very common. I haven't heard any real comment on me being married to a ym(and I live in a REALLY small comunity(Sørum)) ,but I have had close friends(both men and women) joke about the agedifference, but it has always been in good humor.

yes the man who sent me this reply is 35..I answered him of course..an NO i never wrote anywhere that i jump young boys..I just happened to fall in love with one..but bloody nora..how difficult this is.. :(
anyway...sent reply to this guy that I certainly not are in the habit of jumping young men..tried to explain the real situation..got this reply...omg..

I understand u, sweety..but this is how the world look at it..but please don't think too much..I just feel that u get a kick out of having a young boy in your bed from time to time...(gggrrrrr)
and of course it will not last long..remember he is just a little boy..

I am 40... and my b/f is 24.. my head is spinning..told him about this of course..he just said..dont listen to them..just jealous and spiteful..we know what we have together..(hmmm i like him :D )

maybe it's cultural..am Norwegian but spent most of my life in the UK..

this 35 year old is actually member of this forum..but obviously he likes younger women..there is quite a few older women members..but not heard from them as yet..

anyway..thanks for support..makes it easier..

Well...but more of these couples exist than we think, because we don't always SEE the age gap ya know? Lots of folks (and we hear every so often here about couples who got together years ago before it was at all socially acceptable) are in AGRs who are "invisible". I really don't think many people notice my AGR just by looking. If they do I doubt they would guess the size of it at all accurately. So really, who knows for sure? Because of the social stigma a lot of people have had AGRs in stealth, LOL.

In any case, just as the others have said, definitely ignore the jealous aging man. So many troubles in the world today would be eliminated if there weren't such an incredible level of male insecurity and the need for these fools to prove themselves all the time by putting down or controlling others. Poor guys. :P

Men more insecure than women? Bwhahahaha! Should we even begin to discuss female jealousy issues, or is that subject verboten on this forum?

Goldie's just throwing out baits for me, but at some point I'm going to get tired of responding to them. :)

Men get jealous/envious too and it sounds like this guy is a hypocrite and is stuck in the traditional view that women should be with an older man and all the ehem.. benefits (?) that supposedly go with that. (har har).

Ignore the *** and don't even give him the dignity of a response.

Don't flatter yourself. I wouldn't bother aiming posts at someone who can't read. Once again you have utterly failed to grasp what I said, which definitely wasn't what you thought I said. Whatever.

if there weren't such an incredible level of male insecurity

Men more insecure than women?

Those two sentences do NOT mean the same thing whatsoever. I would suggest that you stop with the vendetta with Goldie, because you're only proving her point in making yourself look pretty insecure.

Rob, you are kewl. :) Thanks for pointing that out, it would appear that some are (repeatedly) unclear on the obvious. I WAS going to just post something to the effect of "Here's Exhibit A..." but I thought that was just too mean, not to mention too easy...but you said it for me. Heh.

You're one of the smart ones. If the comment doesn't apply to you (and of course it doesn't), you know well enough not to take it personally. I'm sure *you* understand the context in which my comment was made.

Your lady has a good man. :)

i has been MY experience that men my age and older have the most difficult time with the fact i am with a younger man, a young smart, professional, hot and sweet as can be man twenty years my junior.

come on men folk, get a grip. all my friends are my age and the guys that they date are professional, not so much in their station in life, but PROFESSIONAL daters, and they size a woman up quick and age is a factor, they prefer a younger woman for the most part.... he he, little did they know what they were passing up was another man's treasure.

it makes them insecure as HECK that the forty something crowd is now passing them up for the younger stud, we are attacking their virility. it is utterly fascinating to me that i become desirable the more unattainable i become, i put my nose a bit higher in the air and am very proud of my younger husband.

we ladies, need more back bone, its tough walking this road sometimes but realize the unequality that has been going on regarding the 0w/ym relationships since the beginning of time, its time to stand tall and have dignity.

i was a younger woman with a older man, three times, i was a trophy girlfriend. my looks and age were a big factor in the past relationships, there was a superiority thing going on there also, i also was the more passive one in the relationship and got major walked on.

my husband is not my trophy, he is my friend, we have a BLAST together, we have fun, we play, we work, we pray, we have mind blowing sex. we are passionate together. our priorities are EACH OTHER.

not all younger men want kids, want a woman to take care of, want to be in the rat race. they want to be loved and adored and enjoyed, i think as older women we have a great chance of making our so called unusual relationships work.

screw the 35 year old guy who made the comment, those are HIS issues dont take on his sicknesses. be happy you deserve it!!! :)
