MerAlove23 09-07-2005, 05:52 PM I was curious which ones we find more interesting or one that is better...
I for one LOVE supernanny I don't really care for nanny 911... I think Jo is fabulous... I even have her book which I am reading now.... :)
What do you guys think?
PinkCat 09-07-2005, 06:09 PM I didn't realize these were two different shows! But I've watched one of them a couple times, and think it's really good! Some of those kids are BRATS!!!
sub rosa 09-07-2005, 07:18 PM I love both shows
But super nanny is a little better
nanny 911 exploits the whole idea of filming brats for shock value and repeating the scenes over and over.
super nanny does the same, but is a little bit more informative

Yeah they are little brats.... But unfortunatly a lot of it has to do with the parents and how they Let them control them... Sometimes being the so called "bad" guy is warrented... If you watch how the parents let them run around and let them scream and yell or whatever the issue is it's amazing......Their are no consequences....
One thing I love and so TOTALLY AGREE with is that a bedroom should NOT be a naughty area.... they need to know what the bed is for and that room... My son is only 14 months and I only take him in his room to change his diaper... Let him play ON THE FLOOR *never in his crib* and to sleep... When I place my son down in the crib he NEVER cries he just lays over and goes to sleep... even if it's for a nap because I trained him to know the Crib is to Sleep and Nap... thats it... not a play pen and it's not a punishment area... and you know it WORKS...
I love Jo!!!! I swear I want to meet her for real and just tell her how much I adore her!!
Solarin 09-07-2005, 11:33 PM I know the nannies would disagree but some of those kids justify spanking! ;)

See... I agree with the Nanny's.. I know some do think spanking is good and ok if done right... I personally don't believe that you should use any kind of agression like violence in anyway because to me it teaches them that agression is ok sometimes....

I gave up on that notion long ago. It never did any good for either of my children. Giving them time out definitely had more of an impact on them. They both hated it. I have a little red chair that was designated as their time out chair. I am going to keep it and pass it down to one of them when they have their own children. :)
Mer, I haven't heard of Nanny 911. What station is that on? I do like Supernanny, too, but don't watch it all the time. But, I like how she interacts with the parents. She teaches them better ways to manage the children and yet maintains their self-esteem. We parents often feel like failures if we can't control the children. It can be pretty overwhelming at times. I am lucky though. Both mine truly have always been good children. Even my daughter who at age 12 is now acting like a drama queen and seems to have lost some of her manners.

It's a broom, its a plunger, it's... Super Nanny!
I like her show, its entertaining :)
Solarin 09-08-2005, 08:39 AM I meant it as a joke. To be honest I am not really sure what I think of spanking children. My parents spanked me as a child and I am fine.
vegasgirls702 09-08-2005, 05:03 PM i didn't know there was two different ones on either, I wish I could have one of them nannies up in my house!
my house is upside down, my 3-1/2 year old has been diagnosed with autism spectrum, they said he was on the low end of it. He is out of control when something doesn't go his way. Just yesturday I had to drag him by his shirt/arms into the house, he refused to walk and I couldn't carry him and my bags. So there I was dragging my son and I know what people must think. My boyfriend says to make him walk, but I can't make that boy do anything he doesn't want to do. I am not kidding either. I would love for someone to come into my house and show me different.
MerAlove23 09-08-2005, 05:13 PM Kat I have no idea what channel that one is on LOL.. I don't watch it... I just usually just flick the channels and it pops up.....
at 12 WoW kat she's going into that twilight zone age.... LOL girls go into their teens and I swear it's like the twilight Zone until they at least reach 21 ;) She's trying to make her mark... Unfortunatly they always say you pay the piper in the beginning with boys and at the end with girls....

Unfortunately to guys...you women are always in the twilight zone. You could give us a map and we would still get lost. :D
I like Supernanny best. Jo is awesome. I have done child care for 20 years and I know spankings don't work. Getting down on their level and being firm and using a time out chair does work.
Now if I could just find out what works with a hormonal, moody 13 year old.
