I love Reggaeton so I am wondering if we have any other fans on this site?

I just bought the Zion and Lennox album and it is sooooo good!

Anyone else?

I love reggaeton! I listen to a great station in San Francisco, La Kalle. Where are you, Moon?

Yes, I like Zion and Lennox. Also, I like Don Omar, Daddy Yankee and I love Ivy Queen. She is so cool. Although, I heard that she was arrested for domestic abuse. Wonder what that is about.

I do speak Spanish, but it is hard for me to understand all the lyrics. That is not totally bad because some of them seem to be nasty! They aren't too good at identifying all the songs they play on La Kalle, so I don't know who the artists are for some of the songs I like. There is one song which has some French lyrics. Do you know who the artist(s) is (are)?

Hey Patricia! I am in Chicago and we do have a great station for reggaeton. I don't speak a bit of spanish, but like you said, it's probably for the better. I listen to a lot of music I don't understand, but I like it that way. :)

No, I'm not familiar with the song that has french lyrics, but here are some more popular artists:

Luny Tunes
Tego Calderon
Don Chezina
Wisin y Yandel
Las Guanabanas
Benny y Shaka

Keep your eye out for Rakim y Ken-y. I don't think their album is out yet, but what I have heard from them so far is reeeaaallly good! Very melodious, like Zion and Lennox.

It is time to revive this thread. :)

By the way, Moon, how are you? Is everything okay? It is so good to see you again.

Anyway, I was wondering if you have checked out reggaetonline.net yet? It is a really cool site because there are all sorts of forums, so the site is not totally restricted to reggaeton. Anyway, you would probably like it. You can download songs and videos, get news, ask about artists and lyrics and generally learn about the genre. They also have a free reggaeton radio. You can make requests for the radio, too.

Next week, I am going to my first reggaeton concert. I am going to see Don Omar on the 3rd. He has a great voice and his music is good to dance to, even though he is dissed for his ongoing battle with the greatest reggaetonero, Daddy Yankee. Actually, DY is my favorite, but I like Omar, too.

Hello patricia! I'm great, thanks for asking, I hope you are too!

I have checked out the site you mentioned - I think that's where I got the names of some of the artists I mentioned earlier. I am addicted to reggaeton, but I also don't know many artists beyond the more popular ones, so I hit the site to find some more.

I am so excited for you! That you are going to be seeing Don Omar. I love his music . . . I may even like it more than DY, but it's a really hard call to make. But when did this battle start between them? Because I know they used to perform together. I hope the resolve it. It is such a shame when great talents disagree instead of collaborating.

If we don't get to chat before the show, have a GREAT time, and I want to hear all about it after!

I never thought I would end up liking reggaeton, but I really do!! The songs even though sometimes are nasty (only to a degree, most have shuttle double meanings) they sound good. Most of the time, the lyrics are about infidelities, sex, culture, partying and traveling...

I am fluent in Spanish (my first language) but then you also have to know the slangs of each group to know what they mean (fortunately, I am quite capable of most Spanish slangs, I have friends from almost every Latin country)

Patricia we had a La Kalle station in San Antonio, Texas. It seemed it was a total hit and few months later it went under. Now it has been replaced with Norte-n-a, ranchero music, not my style...

I hear reggaeton, and I am dancing away, but then I love to dance, specially Latin music.

Shall we dance? :)

I just realized that our reggaeton station is called La Kalle, too (sorry, it seems I'm a little slow these
days . . . I'll just blame it on all this dang school work ;) ).

What does La Kalle mean?

Yup, as soon as the reggaeton comes on, you have to move! I think I'll join you in the dance!

But I agree, some of the lyrics has double meaning. There's one song called "Mayor que yo" (something like "older than me") by Daddy Yankee and some other guys. A bit funny except for the part of the lyrics that says that he wants to take her to bed.

P.S: La Kalle means "The Street". Actually the correct way to write it is La Calle, with a C not a K, I guess they write it with a K because they sound the same. It's "cool" to write with a K maybe? lol
