Squishy CatsChatterbox 09-12-2005, 05:21 PM Isn't amazing how squishy cats are???? I often find myself hugging my cat too tightly, but he never seems to mind - his bones just kinda squish! :D PinkCat 09-12-2005, 05:33 PM Heehee, careful there, Lenny!! Just kidding. I love cuddling my cat too. When she deigns to let me!! Heh. She's a puff-ball. whiterose 09-12-2005, 05:37 PM Of all 4 of my cats, I've only got one that's a cuddler, and that's my boy, Tyger. He is so sweet. Every morning, while I'm reading Ageless, he holds his paws up to me like a little child does to his mama and meows.. it's as if he's saying "pick me up please". So, I pick him up, then he buries his face into my shoulder, and takes his paws and pushes on my cheek. :p He is so soft, and sleek, that he slips out of my grasp sometimes. And particularly because his body is so LONG. He has this little tiny head and this very long body. He doesn't look like it, but I swear he must weigh 20 lbs. He goes limp like a ragdoll, too, which makes it very hard to hold onto him. But, I'm SO glad for our morning cuddle time. It's a great way to start the day. Chatterbox 09-12-2005, 06:11 PM LOL, Pink Cat! And, holy cow, Whiterose, what excellent writing! I could feel that ole slinky cat sliding right through my arms and I could feel the love. It also reminded me (which has NOTHING to do with what you wrote, this thread, this forum, or anything!!!! LOL) of when defiant toddlers turn limp and are almost impossible to pick up!!! Drunks can do the same thing, but it isn't nearly as cute! :p [EDIT: NOT that it's "cute" to the parent of the toddler, either!] Georgia 09-13-2005, 09:11 AM Thats so funny. Anytime I sit at my computer my boy cat Flash wants to climb in my lap and I am constantly having to correct typos he causes by putting his paws or head on the keyboard! fos4snt 09-14-2005, 10:13 AM Squishy is such a odd word to use... not sure I would describe my cats as... squishy. Their hairballs when you step in them are definitely squishy, but them? I beg to differ. Cuddly, definitely. Silky, oh yeah. Squishy? LOL My three cats are ALL lap cats. First, there is the TINY little High Jinx who prefers to sit on your shoulder and sniff in your ear (creeps me out big time), but will be happy anywhere on you ~ so long as he's got the body heat. And he is TINY and I suspect he will never be more than maybe 6 lbs. He's about 3.5 months old now and the size of most 8 week old kittens and not growing, but definitely healthier. TINY paws, too. Hart is a normal size kitty with a BIG ole kitty butt. LOL. She's all over your lap if you come visit. LOVIN is her middle name. Happy.. now... he's a medium size dogcat. I swear, when he's fully extended he is probably 3 feet tall. WELL over 25lbs. Not at ALL fat. He's just a GIANT cat. He makes the normal size Hart look like a kitten and the kitten look like a freakin' embryo!! Up against my Border Collies, he holds his own. Smacks them down and gets to their food if he wants and PLAYS with them. When he wants your lap, it can HURT. Nothing squishy about him. When he wants OFF your lap, or he smacks you, its like getting stepped on by a large child or smacked by a 10 year old. Yeah... squishy is a weird word to use with kitties. Maybe the fluff ball kind, but all mine a short haired. And Happy is downright BONEY and when he smacks his head or shoulders into you, he bruises you!!! ~phos fos4snt 09-14-2005, 02:02 PM Yeah, mine will SMACK ya if you squish 'em too much, tho. It's ALLLLL about THEIR loving, selfish little beasts they are. ;) Squish 'em, and they smack ya. Pet them softly and they purr like crazy, but squeeze and you'll have a claw in your eye in a nanosecond. ~phos teddikat 09-14-2005, 05:00 PM I was afraid to look at "squishy" for a while cuz all I could think about was road kill! But yes they certainly do have different body structures. I watch my mom's dog and how "tense" or "rigid " the body is compared to my Teddy. I watched him today as he washed his face - so cute! Chatterbox 09-17-2005, 05:27 PM I was afraid to look at "squishy" for a while cuz all I could think about was road kill! OMG, Teddikat, you poor thing! Sorry, I never thought of that! But yes they certainly do have different body structures. I watch my mom's dog and how "tense" or "rigid " the body is compared to my Teddy. I watched him today as he washed his face - so cute! I enjoy watching my dog and cat, also. I get a big kick out of just about everything they do. Last night, my cat was burying his nose in my ear while purring very loudly and it cracked me up! "Washing his face" reminds me of another cat-washing story: I was in a park where the cats were fed and protected (obviously a country other than America) and was shocked to see a row of 15-20 cats all with one leg stuck up in the air as they simultaneously washed their behinds! LOL Sadly, the picture I took didn't come out. And another time, one of the kittens fell madly in love with me and climbed all the way up my leg and torso until I held him in my arms. As I sat down to cuddle him in my lap, I discovered that he was loaded with fleas (ewwwwwwwwww!) but I still didn't have the heart to make him get down. Now THAT'S SICK! LOL But, heck, I figured I'd already been "exposed"! (Hmmmmmm, then-husband was quite upset by that. Wonder if it had anything to do with him eventually becoming ex-husband???? :p ) fos4snt 09-17-2005, 08:08 PM And another time, one of the kittens fell madly in love with me and climbed all the way up my leg and torso until I held him in my arms. As I sat down to cuddle him in my lap, I discovered that he was loaded with fleas (ewwwwwwwwww!) but I still didn't have the heart to make him get down. That story made me think of this little guy... <img src='http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-10/866457/HighJinx.jpg' width=270 height=360 > Found him under my Passat a month or so ago and he's been with us ever since. But, OMG, the FLEAS were such a huge deal! He was crawling with them. The emergency vet gave him an oral and said he was too young/small for the normal treatments. We gave him multiple flea baths and then it FINALLY subsided (CLUSTERS of horrible black fleas coming out his NOSE... EWWW) after his third treatment from the regular vet and things are fine, flea wise, around here now... but EGADS... he infected the whole house. BUT, we love him!!! Ear sniffing maniac that he is... ~phos Faith47 09-18-2005, 09:36 AM aaahhh Fos, he is a cutie pie :D I must also says that I dont think Sam is squishy. More like you said, soft. But thats when he lets me takes him. You know cats. When THEY let you. lol My fav time is in the evening when he sleeps on the blanket I have on the sofa for him. He loves it and than he sleeps like a baby and i can give him little kisses. He is so cute and adorable and sooo soft. He likes to be the king of the domaine but I dont mind. He is my adorable little man :D Science Goddess 09-19-2005, 09:34 AM = He is so soft, and sleek, that he slips out of my grasp sometimes. And particularly because his body is so LONG. But, I'm SO glad for our morning cuddle time. It's a great way to start the day. I have two kitties, WR, and one is like this! She just goes limp and if you're not careful when putting her down (from a standing position) she'll literally just *thump* land on her head! Do you have morning cuddle time, too? My kitties hang around the kitchen when I make coffee every morning, 'mowing' at me until I sit on the kitchen floor and give them some morning luv. Chatterbox 09-19-2005, 02:06 PM Morning lovin' is important in my home, Science Goddess. If I don't give him his quota, he won't let me read my newspaper: sits where I'm trying to read or reaches up and pulls the paper down (if I try to avoid him)! PinkCat 09-19-2005, 02:23 PM I worry about my cat sometimes. :( She's alone all day. Sometimes she seems to want love when I can't give it to her... as I'm leaving, while I'm in the middle of a deep sleep. But if I'm there all day just sitting around, she'll ignore me! And if I pick her up and bring her to where I'm sitting, she'll only stay about 3 seconds. I love my cat. She's so cute!! She's 4 (I think -- the SPCA wasn't sure) and she's BIG!!!!! Not fat at all. Just HUGE. Last night I woke up to the most awful sounds... she was sitting on my bed next to me, making sounds as though she was going to throw up. Oh good, cat vomit on the bed... but actually, she didn't end up throwing up. But what a weird way to wake up... my dreams were very strange. |
