hey, my OM is 48 on october 10th, he doesnt like cards (thinks you dont need papar to tell someone something u can tell them yourself) so im going to make him one. I draw celtic designs known as knotwork.
I can draw a knot called the lovers knot, so I am going to draw that on the front and paint it (its not a card really lol) it signifies the coming together of two people, and this is the first birthday of our relationship.
I dont know what to get him as a present. I wanted to give him something i bought him this sweater he had his eye on for a while (not very romantic i know) and i got him a lil credit card with a poem on about love so he can keep it in his wallet.
Should i get him another present?
is that enough?
if i should.. what else do i get him?

Depends on his taste.... Does he like sports? maybe get some tickets .... Or just plan a nice romantic dinner at home.. :)
My OM's birthday was last month... I bought him a new pair of flip-flops, the kind that you heat in the oven then stick your foot in to mold them to your feet. $50, but worth it. Totally practical. =) No card or anything, I don't do cards well... he was pleased. Whoever said that guys are more practical than us was right. They like stuff they can use. I think a sweater and the really cool celtic card sounds great!

Alec's Birthday was this last monday....and I bought him a copy of the movie Fever Pitch (he's a HUGE Red Sox fan)
I picked him up from work and took him to lunch.
I also made him dinner...gave him a massage and ran him a bath (he loves baths) He also loves cake...so i made sure we had a chocolate cake for him and some yummy ice cream.
I found that older guys say they don't like a big fuss to be made over their birthdays...but everyone likes to feel special. It doesn't take much to show your SO that you love them and to treat them like a king on their bday.
My personal advice...i'd give him the sweater and the celtic knot....then do something special for him on the day of. Does he like a certain meal? a massage? a bath? is there something around the house you can do for him?
Nadine.

hmm yea, i wasnt sure bout the credit card thingy i was over come with 'aww isnt it sweet' when i saw it lol. i think ill just keep that. he likes practical things yea so im not sure what to get. i never bought for a boyfriend before (im bisexual i had girlfriends before they were so much easier).
On doing something for him, i cant he will be back in Denmark where he is from next week, its his birthday the week after. he is staying with me while he is over and i live with my parents. he only stays here for a little while so doesnt work.
Im only 18 and dont have a lot of money (£40 to my name) or a car we love taking baths together but can't in my house :( maybe next birthday we might be able to as we hope to be living together by then. :)
He hates sports lol, he doesnt really have any great interest and is a little picky so very hard to please. the only thing i know he loves is cadburys turkish delight chocolate.. maybe i could cover myself in it and call him up to lick it off (joking, parents would KILL me) I can't do anything like a bath or romantic meal since i live with my parents, they kinda spoil things and since they dont know we are intimate (he stays in another room to me... i have very over protective annoying parents) it will be difficult.. but like i said the main hurdle is that he will be in Denmark and Im in the uk. :(
I think i will stick with the two things i have and maybe get his fav pic of me framed so he can have it with him at home. He always comments about how 'beautiful' i look in the picture in the fire place, i think he would like to have a copy of that to look at when he gets back home and cant be with me.
Thanks for your opinions
