I just wanted to say thanks!
For the past year, i've been in an on and off relationship with an "older" guy. (He 50--me 24). We've both been going back and forth, one minute we're really into each other and nothing else matters, the next we can't deal with the fact that we are 27 years apart. *rolls eyes and sighs* It's been a roller coaster. I don't really know right now where things will go from here.
BUT, I always find the comfort that I need whenever I come onto this site. It makes me feel so much better just to read what everyone has to say.
I don't know about anyone else, but this whole life experience (feeling the taboo of dating and loving a person with a significant age difference) has given me so much strength. I feel like I can conquer any adversity. There were times when I felt so alone and depressed over the whole situation, that when I pulled out of it, I felt all the stronger for it (and I felt a lot more love for him too). It has opened my mind and increased my understanding and awareness of other people and what they are going through in life.
And for further inspiration for all you lovers out there--I have met a lot of people who are not in age gap relationships, but who support them nonetheless. Men and women of all ages and all backrounds. (It's a topic I love to talk about!) It's strange, whenever I doubt that I will pursue this relationship further, I get some positive support from unlikely sources. *scratches head*.
