I am in a BIG age gap relationship, i am 18 and my boyfriend, now fiance is 57. We are both so happy together, times are difficult sometime but we are strong and getting even stronger. We are looking at properties together and hope to be living with each other by the begining of next year. I would love other people who are in young old relationships to talk to cause none of my friends understand what its like!

lovemyjohn 10-11-2005, 02:31 PM Me and my man have been together for 1yr and 4 months, we got engaged on September 5th this year! It was so romantic, he gave me a rose and the ring was on the stem of the rose!
When we first met it was a bit strange because i had just started at college and he was my tutor! It was like love at first sight we got on really well and loved being in each others company.
I was in a difficult relationship where there was a bit of violance, but my man was there for me and helped me through it all. Then we ended up spending loads of time together and we could speak about anything, we would always speak online till the early hours of the morning!
We tried to keep apart because of the age gap and the fact he was my tutor, but it just couldnt be helped. One day he was dropping me off home and i was getting out of the car and he turned round to me and said "i love you" totally by accident! i smiled kissed him on the cheek and told him i loved him too.
From then on we just got closer and closer to each other. Sometimes things are a bit difficult because he has 2 children who are alot older than me and that got to me a little bit.
We are so so happy together we just want to spend every minuet together!
We are saving up to buy a place together and we plan to spend the rest of our (or his) lives together.
Oh yeah another sort of problem was my parents! My dad still doesnt know because my mum didnt think we should tell him, mum has accepted the fact that im with him but i know she wishes i was with someone nearer my own age!
I cant think of anything else to tell you, but if you want to know anything just ask, im open about my relationship. The way i look at things is that if people dont like it then i dont care its my life and i can do whatever i like! lol.

There are so many aspects to an age gap relationship and there are so many things that can put a strain on your relationship...you seem like you can handle it, though.
My OM has two kids that are my age....I agree, that can be rough. But it's great that you are happy and things are going well. It is also hard when your friends don't understand...mine didn't, but they did come around eventually.

I am in the same boat as you are. There is a huge age gap in my relationship (and I think I can beat all you guys - our AG is 42 yrs!) My boyfriend (and now fiance) and I have known each other for over 4 years, but we didn't start dating until about a year or so ago. We got engaged in August and it's been wonderful! He has two children who are older than me. He daughter (who is the older one out of the two) was OK with us dating, but she is not OK with us getting married. His son totally accepts our relationship and has been very supportive. So I can feel your pain in terms of this...

dani1987 10-19-2005, 05:04 PM welcome lovemyjohn and bella_stella and golden, Im in a similar situation im 18 and my OM is 48 just gone (1 week today) and we are very happy together, we have a bit of a rocky relationship buit hopefully thats all sorted out now (its a looooooooong story) and my parents both accepted us but they wish i was with someone younger too, they think its just a phase i think and ill snap out of it... my OM has a daughter who is 16 but sadly she is not in his life due to a bad break up Im VERY worried about what will happen when she comes back into his life but ill just have to see what happens when it happens, congrats on the engagement and welcome again to ageless.

Wow! I love your story, and it sounds like you have very open and understanding parents (at least your mom). And you're only 18! I've heard stories from women on this board as old as 27, with men only 15 years their senior, who get more grief from their parents than you did (at least from your mom).
